TV Guests – Jenny Hart
Jenny Hart is an artist best known for her work in embroidery. Her work has appeared in a variety of publications, such as Spin, Vogue, Nylon, Rolling Stone, Venus, The Face, Artforum, Bust and Juxtapoz. Jenny’s artwork has been exhibited and published internationally and is included in numerous public and private collections, including Carrie Fisher, Tracey Ullman and Elizabeth Taylor.
Jenny is the founder of Sublime Stitching, which is a pioneering design company that introduced alternative aesthetics and new educational resources for hand embroidery. She’s the author of numerous books, such as Embroidered Effects (Chronicle Books, 2009), and has won Print magazine’s Regional Design Annual award for her work with Chronicle Books. Jenny has collaborated with a variety of talented artists, including Tara McPherson, Jim Woodring, Michael Sieben, Carson Ellis, Daniel Johnston, The Decemberists and more. Passionate about fine art, embroidery and indie craft, Jenny has also been a speaker at Bumbershoot, Maker Faire, Pecha Kucha and SXSW Interactive.
In 2012, Jenny’s embroidery work will be included in a retrospective group exhibition called “40 Under 40” at the Renwick Gallery at the Smithsonian Museum of American Art.
