Sew it All 11: Walking on Sunset Knit Dress Pattern
Have you grabbed your copy of Sew it All Volume 11 yet? I mentioned that a few projects have jumped to the top of my to-sew list. The Walking on Sunset Dress Pattern by Charise Randell did just that! We have this particular dress on a dress form in our lobby and it always gets compliments. It’s easy to see why: a lovely silhouette, fabulous kimono-inspired sleeves, easy to wear and style and, most importantly, super comfortable. I know several folks in our office are planning to sew this one up this fall. How about you? Yes? Great – join us!
The sample is sewn in a lovely subtle print (and fabulous color!) from Dear Stella. The great thing about this dress is that it has a lot of versatility depending on fabric selection. Modern, romantic, playful and more! Here are a few of my favorite fabric options:
For a romantic, boho vibe, opt for a large floral like Bolt by Girl Charlee Homestead Life.
Go southwestern boho with a bold geometric like Art Gallery Fabric Knit Pano Stone.
I LOVE a good black and white print. Add a painterly effect and I’m sold! This Dear Stella Knit Dollop Snow is beautiful – pair it with vibrant, saturated accessories for maximum fun and impact!
Riley Blake Vintage Daydream Knit has just the right amount of vintage flavor. And I’m a sucker for anything mustard this fall!
Metallic knits are my favorite way to make a basic garment feel upscale. This Telio Metallic Rib Knit would totally transform the look and feel of this dress!
This dress is an easy sew, even if you’re new to knits! If you need tips and techniques, check out our Knits 101 ebook.
