Win a Sew Steady Table for Better Sewing
***Congratulations to Patricia E***
“I started out sewing doll clothes as a child years ago and now I’m 62 and beginning to make quilts for my 10 grandchildren. I love sewing. For me, it’s a quiet and relaxing time after working anywhere from 8 to 12 hours a day in my stressful working environment. Like most people who love to sew, I make everything from doll clothes for the grandchildren, to projects, clothes, and quilts and what fun to see the finished product and know how well it’s been made, not to mention customized.”
Thanks for participating everyone! Patricia E has been notified by email that she has been randomly selected as the Sew Steady table winner. Patricia must respond by 11:00 AM ET, Friday, September 7, 2012 to claim her prize. If we have not heard from her, another winner will be randomly selected.
When you’re sewing, having a level surface around your machine can make stitching so much easier.
You could win this Sew Steady portable table. |
But it can be hard to find, or make, a sewing surface that fits your machine. Built-in sewing tables are great, but what happens when you go to a class or take your sewing machine on the road?
Dream World, the makers of Sew Steady Tables was founded in 1994 when a local sewing instructor asked her husband to make a table to fit around her machine. From that came the first custom fit Sew Steady Table!
I am excited to announce that we are partnering with Sew Steady to giveaway this great prize: a Sew Steady Portable Table and accessories worth $190.
All you have to do is tell us why you love to sew in the comments section below. And while you’re at it, be sure to show some love to our friends at Sew Steady by “Liking” their Facebook page.
Here are the official rules*. The lucky winner will be announced on here on the Sew Daily blog August 31, 2012.
Have fun and good luck!
*This giveaway is open to U.S. residents (excluding Puerto Rico).
I am a scientist and it’s a very interesting job that I love. But, I also *love* to sew because I love combining colors, trying new techniques, and making things for the people I love and care about. The creative release feeds positively into all other aspects of my life. Currently making quilts for the five new babies arriving in my extended family in the next few months!
Wow, I would love to win this great Sew Steady Table. Everyone here has such wonderful reasons to want this and I’m also sorry for the people in Canada who can’t accept free prizes. Maybe if it cost a small amt to win it that would be covered. I don’t really know the ins and outs of their laws. Just a thought. My reason for wanting this is just like any of the others. To have great use of the space around my sewing machine for sewing and quilting. Especially the quilting. I am a pretty basic quilter, improving all the time. I have taken a little time off for personal and health reasons. I really need to get back to it though. It is so enjoyable a process. Starting from pieces of fabrics and going from there. Even as the process starts to take shape it lets you know that you need to add or take away (mostly add, I say the quilt starts to talk to me) and it become yours. Such an art. 🙂 Thank you for the chance to win such a great prize. Now to venture off and explore this site some more. It’s been a while and a lot of things have caught my eye. Have a great day!
I love sewing because it’s a great hobby! So many different things to make and create. Lots of things to learn.
I love to sew because it is very relaxing and stress relieving. It gives me a great satisfaction to sew a lovely gift and have the person receiving it just love it!
sewing is my way to relieve stress. love to see the response of the people who receive purses or quilts as gifts. worth all the time spent making them
I love to sew because it reminds me of when I was a girl and mom sewed my brightly colored clothing.Mother loved red. I loved the smell of the cloth, the newness of the garment and the fact that my mom made it just for me. Mom has long passed, but now when I sew, all those sweet memories come back. I love to feel the texture of each fabric and look through all the designs and colors row upon row until I find that special one. I love the fact that through sewing I can make a conection with my mom.
I am so blessed to have a passion and love of sewing. …I taught myself how to sew and I am always learning new things….I started sewing costumes for children’s dance shows. I was so excited when I met the girls and they told me how they wanted them. Their dance teacher let them pick out a character to perform in. …To say the least, I was so nervous. I wanted them to look perfect. Through some trail and errors, I did it! ….They came out so beautiful! …It is my passion and determination that I kept sewing and didn’t give up!….The best part was when before the show, all the girls came up to me and said, “We Love Them!” That was all worth the hard work.!….When I can make someone happy with my creations, I know that I found my talent! Sewing !!!! <3

I would love to own this, especially because my birthday is coming up 🙂
The moment I learnt sewing there was no looking back. I don’t know anything better than sewing. That’s how my life works.
I learned to sew at an early age and loved seeing what my hands and mind could create with just a simple few pieces of fabric and trims. I have now been sewing for 37 years……I started REAL young :-)…..and have had my own sewing business for most of those years doing everything from alterations, crafts, clothes, home interior projects and now I’m into machine embroidering and appliqueing. I would love to win this table for my embroidery machine so that I could take it with me to craft shows etc. Thanks for the opportunity. Lisa Fields
When I was 10 my Nana sat me down at her Singer and it was love at first stitch! I’m not sure if it was the trendle pedal or the rhythm of the sound but I was in a trance. Ever since that time, I have loved the feeling of accomplishment making my own clothes, my families clothes, our home accessories and many gifts. Making my own wedding gown was incredible! My granddaughter has asked for it. I now love Heirloom sewing and designing new items for real women!

I get a sense of accomplishment when I sew something well. I also find it satisfying to repair something that is torn, or alter something, making it possible to use it longer and save money.
Sewing is what I do to wind down from the stress of work. I get to let my mind go to something that I enjoy so by the time bed time comes around, my mind is clear of the stresses of the day.
I love to do something relating to sewing every day, even if its reading patterns, preparing to sew something, or actually sewing. I love to purchase vintage fabric to make anything and everything that I can. I even research the internet to find new things to make. I try to re-create vintage patterns that I remember, as well as read vintage patterns. I also love to re-purpose clothing to a new use, from clothing donations. I also donate clothing to needy people. Sewing is not just a hobby for me, it is my way of life when I’m not at my job. I would be lost if I couldn’t sew or read patterns. I love to sew things for my family, needy people, and my house, because it gives me pleasure in accomplishment, and the usefulness of the items rewards my self esteem. Thank you and happy sewing, Speedy
My passion has always been able to create, now more so after the loss of hubby and family it is my life to make quilts, bags and all different projects. My great joy is then to give them away to friends.
Life goes in cycles – learning to sew in 4-H Club, sewing my wedding dress, furnishing a home, clothing my children, – and quilts, always the quilts. Now the family is gone, but there are these beautiful grandchildren, and we continue the cycle. The new machines we have now enrich me. Sewing is the constant thread of my life, and I LOVE IT!
Sewing is my Valium for life. It’s the ability to express myself and create perfect fitting garments, since I am 5’3″ and odd shaped I can look polished and put together. More than anything else I am able to relax and have a peaceful environment just for me, I do not have to go to an expensive spa to be refreshed. Having the right tools is essential for everyone and this is another perfect item I could use.
I love the creativity of sewing. I love that it gives me more time with my teenage daughters. We made all their school clothes this year. I love to hear them say “Mom can make that better” when they see clothing and home dec ads. Sewing also allows me to make clothes that actually fit and look good. One daughter has severe scoliosis so off the rack clothes don’t fit her. But we can make shirts and dresses that do fit and also make her look good and feel confident. The other daughter is tall and thin and into bohemian styles, but doesn’t want to look like an “old hippie”. She can choose her patterns and fabrics and is thrilled with the results. And both get the pride of telling their friends “yeah, I made this” when they get complimented on how nice they look.
Sewing for Project Linus gives us time together as well as helps us give a smile to a child who needs it.
Sewing is a real joy and a huge part of our lives.
I find sewing gives me the outlet I need to create something from an inspiration. It feeds my ” inner muse” when I am restless and I create things I can give away to friends or strangers who also need a “lift.”
I started sewing when I was in elementary school. I made doll clothes for my Barbie doll, and by high school was making clothes for myself. I now quilt, by machine for both piecing and quilting. I love making quilts, for others as well as for myself. A group of friends and I have explored art quilting over the past two years, and that has opened up a whole new world of ways to work with fabrics. I like to attend workshops, and would love to have a larger flat surface to work on when I am at workshops.
I love to sew because i love doing and makeing things for others. There are so many in need and i just want to do what little i can do to help. JOY Jesus first, Others next, You last!
I love the creativity after an intense day of computers at work…and these tables sure take the stress off the shoulders and arms….would love one!
Ilove to sew because i love doing for others. There are so many in need every where and i just want to do what little i can do to help! JOY, Jesus first, Others next, You last!
I love to sew it helps with ptsd we lost everything in katrina and im dealling with lupas but now when i sit to sew my mind is in another place it can be a real life sa ver
My mother used to sew dresses for me when I was a little girl. I started sewing my own when I was in the fifth grade. I wanted to be just like my mother.
These tables are the best I have found and would love to have one for an older machine I use which gets most of its use when I quilt projects. I would love to be able to win one of these, and especially with the accessories, which have become an important part of helping make assembly so much easier, and make our sewing experience so much more comfortable. My mother who loved to sew when she was alive would have also loved this table and what is provides for in the way of stability when assembling and ergonomics to avoid neck, shoulder and back strain while sewing. Thanks for the opportunity to win this. Good luck to all!!
I love sewing because it can be so creative. I learned about sewing from my mother, grandmother’s and an amazing great grandmother.
Hand, machine I love doing it all, knitting, chrochet, quilting I have tried and loved them all. Sewing and needlework are stress reducers for me.
I do injoy your patterns, books and wonderful articles.
Thanks

I love to make all kinds of art – mostly fabric and fiber art! Just the medium alone adds so much richness, texture and dimension to a work of art. I love the feel of fabrics and playing with different colors, patterns and textures.
I love to sew because I find the process calming. And if I get frustrated, it’s time to take a break! I also enjoy the feeling of accomplishment upon seeing the finished product. My day job is a never-ending process, so there is no such thing as finished.
So many reasons to love sewing! Connecting generations, shared and individual creating, fellowship, friendship, FUN! Clothing construction and repair in these tougher economic times, quilt donations to those in need and organizations helping them, and gift giving of small items as thank yous as well as larger items as heirlooms. Love it all! Barb

I enjoy how sewing engages my head and hands … and foot! That I produce something useful is a bonus.
Sewing allows me to pull what is running around in my brain out and into the open. It inspires me and gives me freedom of expression with no judgement.
I love to sew because I enjoy working with my hands and I love everything about the creative process. I’m always inspired to see what direction fabric and color will take me. I also love that the quilting world is so much about giving and sharing. Thanks for the opportunity to win a new Sew Steady portable table!
if I don’t win one were can I buy one in Australia
I started sewing as a young girl making my clothes because we didn’t have a lot of money. Now I sew for relaxation and I love to make quilts to giveaway,
I started sewing as a young girl making my clothes because we didn’t have a lot of money. Now I sew for relaxation and I love to make quilts to giveaway,
My serious sewing passion started when my daughter was 2 yrs. old. I wanted special clothing for her and could not afford what I liked. I started with a special school in Nashville that gave me an excellent foundation and I have never looked back. I love the continuing education that is always available for us regardless of our age. As long as our Lord allows me to keep my sight and sewing coordination, I hope to be able to teach new sewers some of a wonderful hobby and passion.
First of all sewing is so relaxing to me. It calms my mind and helps me be myself. But most of all, it is so exciting to see the things that I can create when I sew. I have been able to make a lot of clothes for my kids and have saved my family a lot of money but, most of all they have all looked beautiful and handsome because I have been blessed with a talent to sew.
I love to sew because it takes me away from work, it’s stress relieving, and it provides a way for me to meet creative souls.
I love to sew. I became a sewer at an early age, my Mom sewed all our clothes and taught me as a very young girl. I don’t think I could live without sewing. It has become part of who I am.
I am a new quilter….this is something I have always wanted to do. I’m taking a class..but the instructor does not teach the actual quilting process. I want to learn to do the entire quilt…..machine quilting it after I have pieced the quilt top.
I love to sew because it gives me the freedom to be creative, or just go by the rules. I have sewn many different projects, but just recently started to learn piecing and quilting. I can tell that quilting is going to be another obsession!
Canadians should also have a chance at the giveaway. You don’t say no to us purchasing why would we be excluded from the giveaway? I will no longer do any purchasing but will only read articles.I have also stopped buying Sew News for this very reason. If you can’t offer the item why not give at least a credit towards your site as an alternative?
I love to sew because it makes me feel close to my Mom who taught me to sew many years ago. Wish she could see what my new machine can do. She would be amazed! Also love putting together the colors, patterns etc of fabrics. Opens my creative side.
I am retired and have rekindled my love of sewing from the early age of 12. Today’s communication and creativity are a source of wonder and delight. Fiber Arts and sewing are my new passions. They keep me young and fresh.
I think in a previous life I was a sewing needle or a piece of cloth!
I like different things and unique sewing allows me to make me happy, make others happy and be who I am.
I just démmenager of France in Hong Kong and my sewing machine followed me, it arrived yesterday and it is great, especially here there are great fabrics! that happiness
I am what i am because the sewing part of my life
Sewing for me is a right-brain workout: an exercise utilizing color and texture to create something unique and beautiful.
Isn’t sewing just like therapy, only you have something when you are done? I enjoy quilting an creating and love the craftsy on line classes.
I had my first sewing experience in Junior High School in the late 1960’s. I had to make a jumper and the pockets were quite a challenge for me. But I got great satisfaction in seeing something I created and the seed was planted for sewing and crafting. All these years later I am still hungering to know more and to hone my skills !

Why I love to sew : The creation of an item.
I have sew some over the years but now I’m trying my first quilt. I was inspired by my grandma, she made wonderful quilts and crafts; she always made it seem so easy. I have made practice quilt blocks and then made pillows out of the blocks, I love the colors, the decisions, the creation.
I love to sew because I love color! Coordinating different fabrics, color and patterns, really excites me. And I am constantly challenged and learning new things, which is good for the brain.
Hmmm…why do I love to sew? Sewing means freedom…from a hectic, frenetic world, from store-bought clothes that don’t truly fit with fabric that doesn’t match my personality. The freedom to quilt, to make gifts, to fix things. Sewing offers endless possibilities!
Hand-made gifts mean so much more than store-bought or commercially-made. I am so pleased when I learn a new project or technique, and have a great sense of accomplishment and pride when I can say, “I made this!”.
my mother sewed most of my clothes when I was growing up. I learned to sew from watching and helping her. Then I made my own clothes. Now, we both quilt. My mother has a table similar to this but I don’t. I would very much like one of my own for my machine to use when her machine is unavailable (Sept. through May). The creativity release and the joy in that that I get from sewing makes me heady with delight.
Sewing fuels my soul, I feel so energized when I am planning, gathering, or sewing a project, it makes this Momma happy. It also reminds me of my Momma who was an expect seamstress!
I have been sewing since I was 9yo – that’s 53 years of quilting and sewing! I love to sew because it is a personal de-stresser, plus it allows my creativity to take flight. I am an artist by nature and incorporate several mediums within my sewing, whether it’s painting or embroidery, or anything else that works. I have recently started working with the Quilts of Valor program and am currently addicted to red-white-blue fabrics! I need this work surface! Thanks!

I love sewing as a way of exploring color, fabric and design choices.
I early retired due to health reasons in 2009 and suddenly found myself at home all day, every day feeling rather down. I used to do some quilting years before but just never had much time to commit to it. So after the first few months of sulking around the house, I decided to take some quilting and sewing classes. I went out and spent a lot of money of a couple of sewing machines and an embroidery machine and can now say it was the best decision I had made. I now spend almost every day sewing, working on quilts, other home decor, and clothing for myself. Sewing has given me a new take on life. The fact that I am home all the time is great. I live in a rural area with some nasty winters so I have built a huge stash of fabrics and supplies.I joined quilting group and just love the people there. The ladies are so sweet and they love having their “permanent resident male” there! Life is SEW good now!
I love to sew because it gives me an outlet for my creative juices! Quilting is my favorite and I am tiptoeing out of my box into art quilts more and more.

Sewing is like breathing to me. Just gotta do it to live!
Sewing is all about being creative, being independant, and being resourceful. It allows you to have the perfect fit, the perfect color, the perfect style. It saves money.
It is good for the environment. It is relaxing. And we all love to hear: “Did you make that yourself? It’s fantastic!”
I sew for many reasons. At first out of necessity, then for creative outlet. I have found that sewing is a way to share appreciation for friends and family. Best of all, the things I create make will bring a smile and happy memories.
Sewing allows me to be creative with fabric. As a quilter, I enjoy sharing my creativity, especially with family members and good friends, by giving them a quilt or wall hanging that I created with them in mind. Making something out of fabric that brings joy and pleasant memories to family and friends is joy that continues to linger with me. thanks to mother and those who taught me the wonderful skill of sewing.
Sewing allows me to create my ideas with fabric rather than with paints. I enjoy sewing by hand and embelishing with embroidery.
I love sewing because I love being able to pick out my own fabrics and make an item exactly the way I want it to be 🙂

I think sewing is one of the most relaxing hobbies I have. Just love fabric especially cottons and that lead me to quilting. Wonderful hobbie! I do have a Singer Featherweight to an embroidery machine and love all of it. The sewing table you have would be most welcome addition to my sewing room. Our guild does a lot of service projects for our community and so we do sewing as a group . The sewing table would be great for taht, to take to classes and sew-ins. Thanks for the chance to win!
Sewing to me is my mental health “rejuvenator.” It helps me de-stress and refocus. I can always tell when I’ve been too long away from my machine. Thirty minutes at my wonderful machine, and I’m feeling great.
I love to sew because I can make my outfit an unique one not mass manufactured.
It’s therapeutic and I honestly believe it’s one of the reason I am still married.
I have been sewing since I was in jr high. I made most of my clothes until I started working in retail. I have since retired after 43 years in retail am enjoying quilting as my retirement pastime. Your table would make my love of quilting even more enjoyable. Thank you for the chance to win this great prize.
After retiring from litigating complex and heart-rendering cases involving abused children and family cases I set out to start using the creative side of my brain. This change brought me back to knitting, spinning and sewing. I particularly enjoy upcycling clothing which I first learned way back in 1970 when I was pregnant with my first daughter and couldn’t find any wearable or somewhat fashionable maternity clothes. Undaunted, I began turning outfits I liked into maternity clothing, starting first with blue jeans and moving up from there. So here I am now, shopping at 2d hand stores looking for used clothing and combining my knitting skills with upcycling clothes. The Sew Steady Tables would certainly help me to continue to grow my creative endeavors.
There is a reason the words “sewing” and “sane” start with the same letter. Being creative with a sewing machine (or just needle and thread) helps take me to another place and away from the sometimes hum-drum or tension filled parts of life. It fills a part in me that cannot otherwise be filled. And making something for a family member or friend or charity is the ultimate “good feeling” part of sewing.
I have sewn for many years and love it. Now in my retirement am finding that the extra time I have for sewing is very relaxing and refreshing. I have seen these tables in use by others and would love to have one for my use. I enjoy sewing a variety of projects, from clothing, to quilting, collage, mending, costumes, household items. The table would be very helpful for large projects and especially in quilting.

I love to sew!! Sewing keeps me sane, keeps my brain and creativity running at optimum speed – it’s something I HAVE to do. Started by sewing clothes for my ‘Ginny’ doll when I was little. Moved on to sewing clothes and accessories, many aprons, nightgowns, blouses with my mom and grandma – once made a pink denim pant suit on my grandmother’s treadle machine. Making unique items for my family and friends has always been one of my favorite things to do. One of my favorite sewing accessories was a Sew Steady table for a former machine. I still use that table, some times as a light table, sometimes as a base for my rotary cutting mat, even though I’ve replaced the machine. Would love to have a new one for my current machine. KEEP SEWING!!
I recently took up sewing again after a 25-year abscence. This was for three reasons: I inherited my grandmother’s great sewing machine; I stopped homeschooling after 10 years, leaving me with more free time; my nieces and nephews are having babies left and right!
I love creating gifts for the babies or other people in my life. A handmade gift means so much more. While I’m not the most creative person on the block, I can take an idea or pattern and make it “my own”. I love nothing better than to shop for (and hoard!) fabric!
I’m so glad I took Home Ec in middle and high school!
Sewing relaxes me and I have something special to show for my time.
When it works, sewing brings me peace…. when it doesn’t, I do it some more so
I can gain peace.
I’m a quilter. Sitting down at my machine is soothing, watching the colors flow by, seeing my quilt grow in size. Sewing is a time out from daily “have to’s.”
I guess my answer would be paper crafts. I am also working on a quiet book as a gift for my sister. She’s having her first baby.
I like to sew because I like to do things different than the standard. Sewing allows me to custom make items. I also love the feel of fabric and like to play with color combinations.
Sewing is my avenue of creative expression that I don’t use in my work world. It takes me completely out of work mode and lets me play in color and fabric and design.

I loooooove the feel of cotton! Easiest to explain in the lyrics of THE FABRIC OF MY LIFE:
“The touch, the feel
The fabric of our lives,
The touch, the feel of cotton
The fabric of my life”
I love the process of making a quilt from the very start at the fabric store. I pet the fabrics! I ignore that sneezes instigated by the fabric sizing and can’t wait to wash and iron the cotton. And then the cutting, piecing, and finishing that are all soothing to me with that special ‘feel’ of the fabric. Must be a throwback to snuggling under a hand pieced quilt my grandmother made in the 1950’s.

No one taught me to sew. I started out making Barbie clothes out of the top of socks. Why? Because that was what I saw my two older sisters do. In junior high I started sewing on the machine, making my own clothes. I learned by watching my mom and two older sisters go through the process of buying patterns and reading the back to find the type and yardage of fabric and choosing the notions. I then observed the cutting out of the patterns, pinning on and cutting the fabric. Then there was the reading the directions and actual sewing and pressing. I never watched the whole process from beginning to end. I never asked questions. It was a part of observing everyday life. Of course, at the time, we did not have cable, video games, or computers. And what was on the three channels of t.v. was often deemed unfit, by my mom, for children to watch. I continued sewing through the years, even while traveling. I have set up many of times on a picnic table to spend the evening while camping. Unfortunately, I lost three sewing machines when Hurricane Ike flooded our town. I have yet be able to replace them, but winning this contest would be a great step in that direction!
I’ve been sewing since I was in high school. There was a home eco. teacher that was so cool. Got my own sewing machine for Christmas when I was 15. Have been sewing every since. Even sewing for my greatgrand childern now. The fun of it is always learning some think new. My joy now is to teach my granddaughter to sew. Sewing has taken me through lots of troubled time and given me peace and other times it has been a challenge.
Having fibers slip through my hands gives me peace of mind, watching my stitches combine with colors and fabrics to construct a new image or design is a language that allows someone else to read and feel my creative thoughts, by way of their own personal interpretation.
My mom was one of the best seamstresses I ever knew. I was the oldest of 3 daughters and she made all of our dresses until we left home. She was also a great quilter. It was my dream to be like her, become a great seamstress and learn how to make quilts. I majored in Home Economics in college and became a pretty good seamstress, but I put off learning to quilt until I retired from teaching. I never gave up the dream, but my mom passed away less than 2 months before I retired. I still pursued the dream. The table that holds my sewing machine is certainly not level, and I would LOVE to win this prize so I can continue my dream of becoming a master seamstress and quilter.
I sew because of the unlimited possibilities that fabric gives you. I love the creativity I feel when I’m planning a new quilting project. If you can dream it you can recreate it in fabric.
I love to sew because it calms my mind. I forget about everything else going on and just enjoy the accomplishments I make sewing! 🙂
I love to sew for the same reasons others like to sew, relaxation, creativity, sharing a part of yourself with others through gifts, etc… However, when I moved a few years ago, I found that sewing gave me an opportunity to make new friends quickly. I joined a quilt guild and several sewing bees and gained many instant friends! When I moved a second time three years later, the same experience happened. I am constantly amazed at how sewing can instantly connect a group of women even when some are 40 years older than I. I will always be grateful for my gift of sewing!
I love to sew because it gives me an outlet for my creative side and I end up with a great finished project to use for myself or give as a gift. I can try something out and if it doesn’t work, then I can rip it out and start over, or toss it! 🙂
I love to create beautiful and functional things.
My passion is sewing, it’s a great felling to create such beautiful things.
My passion is sewing, it’s a great felling to create such beautiful things.
I love to sew because I like the feeling I get when I make something for someone and give it to them. It makes me feel good to make other people feel good. My grandmother owned a seamstress shop and my mother loves to make her own fabric, quilts and clothing. I learned to sew by watching her and now my daughter gets to learn from the both of us. My son has even taken an interest in learning how to sew.
I remember watching my Mother sew before I started school. I find it relaxing (usually) and more more rewarding than housework!! Once you sew those little pieces together, they stay that way! Housework needs to be done over and over!! I would love this Sew Steady Table — I’ve just begun quilting and this would be fantastic for my Bernina!!
I get my love of sewing from my mother. She was a prolific and creative seamstress. It brings calm and peace to a busy life. I love the creativity it allows me to express.
My love of sewing comes from family. My great grandma always made the 4 of us new PJ’s every Christmas we loved those flannel gowns and bonnets and we have pictures of all of those moments. Grandma sewed all of her house dresses. Mom sewed purses that we took to school and sold to our classmates.
Thanks for the memories.

I used to own a Sew Steady table for my Bernina, but it was broken during my last move. I’ve been missing it so much since then!
When my father was 64 years old and I was 23, he bought me a sewing machine and taught me how to quilt in the African-American tradition. His mother, who was the daughter of a slave, taught him how to quilt. We sat at the dining room table and designed the quilt together. He went with me to the fabric store and made helpful suggestions. He sat at the table and directed while I cut and pieced my first quilt on the floor, according to his direction. My first quilt, Northern Comfort,” won “Best of Show” in the Lorain County Art Council’s Juried Art Show that year.
Daddy is gone. If alive he would almost be 100 years old. He would marvel at all of the wonderful sewing products that are available from companies such as Sew Steady. Every time I design a quilt and go through the process of making a quilt it is as if he is there with me in spirit, cheering me on, “That’s a good idea, Baby. This is going to be so beautiful.” OF COURSE I LOVE TO SEW! Thanks Dad!
Sewing helps to keep me young by making my brain have to think.
There is nothing I love more than sewing; except my Mom and Husband. Oh and my Cat “Lucky”. She doesn’t bring us any luck; she’s just lucky to have us as parents. My sewing passion is making doll clothes. I can’t stop making them. My Great Niece is very blessed with dolls and doll clothes. My sewing table is very rickety and has shim’s under two of the legs. It would be nice to be blessed with a new sewing table. Thank you so much for the opportunity!
Sewing is simply magical…..out of nothing, comes something!
Now that I’m older and don’t “have to” sew in order to clothe my children, I find sewing relaxing and a useful way to “Take time for projects,” one of the keys in my own happiness project.
It gives me time to pray for the people I am making something for.
Sewing has been a part of my life, in one form or another since I was 8 years old. My mom taught me the basics, partly to save her own sanity when I was constantly asking questions and trying to use her tools and even her sewing machine. I have sewn clothes for myself and my own children, then fell in love with traditional quilting for many years. Now, as an artist working in several media, I find myself returning to my sewing machines to tap back into the creativity and exploration that sewing offers me.
When I sew, I get into the “zone” and all my cares and worries go away. It becomes a very zen moment.
There’s not much that’s better than going into my craft room to play with my fabric and machines. It’s so relaxing. No one bothers me while I am in there & I come out with all sorts of creative items.
Sewing is therapeutic. When I am sewing, I forget about everything else and can concentrate on my project.
Having arthritis, I have found that having a table around my main sewing machine that my hands and forearms can rest on, increases my sewing time almost double (it is short as it is) I would love a table for around my other machine. I love to sew and have been doing it for close to 50 years now. I love having unique items to wear and to decorate my house with. I once remember in school one day there were close to 30 girls all wearing the same dress! As someone who wore clothes either made by my mom or me, I knew that would never happen to me. Now sewing is an activity I can do that allows me to feel almost normal and not so disabled.
I have been interested in sewing since I was about 8 or 9 yrs old when I used to watch my mother sew for me by hand as we didn’t have a sewing machine. When I started the 9th grade, I enrolled in Home Ec for the main purpose of learning to sew and I have been sewing ever since. I love the ability of taking a piece of fabric and turning it into a garment or home decor piece. It is such a feeling of accomplishment.
Sewing liberates me. It is a stress releaser and allows my creative juices to flow freely. My sewing room is my sanctuary from the chaotic world.
Sewing is my way of “shutting the door” on life’s general problems. I can relax and usually come up with a solution to whatever is bothering me at the time. I can have articles that not everyone has, customized to what I like. I can give gifts that I’m sure that won’t be a duplicate. I can also save money and usually get a better quality item that if bought. I can have”designer” type articles without the “designer” price tag. I grew up with sewing in the household. Since I have sewn since I was a child, sewing and using some of the notions that have been handed down brings back a lot of pleasant memories.
I learned how to sew because I wanted to make my own clothes and money was tight. Once I did that, I started to be more creative than just following the pattern. It was so much fun! I wasn’t going for the funky look but for more upscale/couture designs. I love seeing how far I can go with a technique; like many, I’m always thinking about what I can make next while I’m working on a project.
Fitting has proved to be a challenge as get older, so I make fewer garments and more quilts. Crazy quilting let’s me take the techniques I might have used in a garment and be more outlandish in the result!
I love to sew because it’s my outlet for creativity!
Sewing relaxes and challenges me. It is a thrill to see the project emerge and see beautiful fabric become even more beautiful when cut and sewn.
I once loved sewing just to relax now its my business!I also see the need to pass this to the next generation…..They’re so creative! Thank you for this opportunity.
I love to sew like crazy and there is no tmw! Would love to win this to give it to someone who has been quilting and giving away all of the expensive quilts to charities. She is a sweet lady and big heart. If she already has one, then will give it to my cousin – Robin. She also has a big heart to help people with sewing stuff. I thank God for giving me sewing skills. I also thank you Quilting Daily – Quilting Arts for making this happen to motivate all of us.
I have been sewing since HS. My fingers get itchy to sew and I am off and running. I quilt because I am. I make clothes and other stuff for my grandchildren. Sewing is my art outlet.
I learned to sew from my grandmother and mother, so when I sit down at my sewing table I bring memories of their hints, suggestions, instructions, opinions, patience and impatience to bear on each project. My three year old son now collects scraps to play with while I work on a project. The opportunities to be creative, the time I can set aside for myself, and the ongoing family tradition all feed into my love of sewing.
I like to sew because it makes me feel good to create. It’s an outlet that makes the rest of my life go better!
I love creating things with sewing, it’s a nice break from my hectic life.
I was away from sewing for many years; came back and suddenly feel whole again. I didn’t realize how much I had missed it. Guess it’s part of who I am.
I would love to win this table! I have wanted one forever but just can’t afford it (like so many others). I’ve been sewing since I was in grade school and still remember the first dress I made in Home Ec – a sleeveless A-line dress that was bright yellow with a row of daisies all the way down the center front. I love yellow but it’s a horrible color for me! Now I sew for my grandchildren and am beginning to quilt also. My grandmother sewed and I still have her functional 1926 treadle Singer and several of the quilts she sewed on this machine. My mother sewed also. I love sewing as it brings joy to everyone it touches. And peace to me.
I have been sewing since high school, clothing for children, home decorations, and some for family also. I recently retired and turned to quilting for my mental wellness and creative side, as well as my need to continue “learning’. I sew every day and could put that table to good use for quilting workspace. Thanks for the chance to enter.
I have. To agree with we create. I do believe that we should have the same opportunity to participate on your contests as we have to buy your products . They are good products and I will still purchase them but having the chance to win something that would enhance my sewing experience would be great. After all I love sewing. It is what I do when I want to relax.
The first time I began sewing was at the age of 12 or 14. I made mostly pants. I just began sewing again last year and I didn’t know I missed constructing clothes so much. It is calming, exciting and all these ideas run through my mind to make the piece I’m sewing mine. I also like the smile on the face of my son. I am currently making my son, for the first time ever, a shirt (in muslin because of fit) and it’s looking quite good. I completed a vest and have sewn beanies.
Sewing gives me a sense of accomplishment and a way to release my creativity! <3
It’s cheaper than therapy. It is wonderful to see an end product. It is wonderful to work through the process. I love to handle the fabrics. It all works. candy
Why I like to sew? It’s cheaper than therapy. It is my creativity, my release, my fun time with friends.
I have been sewing since I was 10 years old. Took sewing in 4H until I was 19. Home Ec. in school every year, even one year when it wasn’t offered to my class they let a couple of us girls in the class. I helped the teacher with the 7th and 8th grade Home Ec. my senior year. I wanted to be a Home Ec teacher but had a family and sewed for them instead. I used to buy a pattern and go home and stay at the machine until I had it finished. I have made everything imaginable. Panties, gloves, lined winter coats, tailored jackets. Love to sew and share with others. Recently had a mini serger class for 4 ladies I know that each had a serger and didn’t know how to use it. Two of them had them still in the box after years of owning them. Love to sew. I have three sewing machines, two sergers and an embroidery machine. I also have a battery powered machine with my scrapbook things. LOVE IT!!!!!!
Oh ~ how I love to sew! It feeds my creative energy. I started quilting 8 years ago and there hasn’t been a day that I’m not at my sewing machine since then. I think it’s fantastic that you have contests & give-a-ways! Good luck everyone!
Sewing is not only my escape, but the satisfaction I get when looking at a completed project cannot be beat.
I love to sew because it is great therapy for my mental health to be able to create something to use or wear for myself or others.
I love to sew as it is relaxing(most of the time) and the end result is something useful and/or a personal gift.
Growing up I helped my Grandmother by rocking her treadle as she sewed. My mother gave me a baby Elna sewing machine that I used to make doll clothes on. It was my prized possession. I have continued to sew my entire life. It not only brings me great satisfaction, provides beauty and practical items for my loved ones, but most importantly fills my heart and soul as I do so.
Cloth of any kind attracts me like a magnate. It took years, though, before I recognized that sewing is my passion. One day at going away party my co-workers threw for me (we were moving from the area), the gift was a quilt that all of them had contributed to making. From the moment I saw that quilt, I was called to make my own stories using cloth. Thanks for this opportunity–good luck to everyone.
Sewing allows me to express my creativeness. It’s just like coloring with crayons, only I use fabric and thread to create beautiful and interesting pieces. Sewing is very calming for me and gives me great satisfaction.
I love to sew because it allows me to have clothes that fit right and are unique. My mother was a seamstress who made everything from wedding dresses to straight jackets. She taught me to sew, and I am privileged to be able to use the skills she taught me.
I have been sewing for a very long child. I used to watch my mother sewing and picked up sewing from her. I have made my children most of their clothes when they were young and have also made most of my clothing. In the last 5 years I started quilting (Mother also was a quilter) and love every moment of it except putting the quilt together and being able to quilt without having the fabric bunch up the wrong way. I love the idea of a larger working space. I can dream, who knows, maybe I will win one.
I am learning to quilt, I have already made a few quilts and other sewing accessories, I also do machine embroidery, my grandmothers were sewers & quilters, my younger sisters quilt. I am disabled and I believe this Steady Table would help when I quilt, & do other large items. If I win I will no longer have to hunch over as much as I do now. It is so much easier to sew when you have a larger area to put your material.
Thank you for giving me a chance to win this table.
I would love to add the Sew Steady Table to my collection of sewing gadgets. This would be great for traveling and when I sew on my kitchen counter top giving me more stable room for my projects. Thanks for the opportunity to win this great sewing notion!
It is my time for me. I can be as creative as I want. I love the feeling of creating something.
Since I live in a mousetrop size house, I don’t have a lot of room to sew. I would love additional space at my sewing machine. It igitates (my daughter’s word) me trying to keep fabric from sliding off the machine. I have one machine tht the front keeps folding down for sleeve sewing. Of course in always folds when it is barely touched.
Sewing & quilting are such a passion for me that I can’t imagine life without fabric! I enjoy creating new designs and patterns and sharing with those around me. I love to teach sewing techniques and have 3 granddaughters who have developed my love of sewing, too. Sewing helps to make me whole!
I like to sew because I like working with fabric and the colors and all of the possibilities. I can turn fabric into a piece of art for others to enjoy.
I fell in love with sewing at the age of 9. I joined a 4-H sewing group–made an apron and 2 potholders–won a blue ribbon for them, and decided if one could win blue ribbons, this was something I wanted to do! I have been sewing for 62 years now (oh my, it can’t be that long!!!). I sewed all my children’s clothes growing up and now sew for grandchildren. Three of my best sewing times have been as I made wedding dresses for my 2 daughters and 1 daughter-in-law–plus lots of bridesmaids dresses for the big days. One of the gowns won a national contest, was featured in a magazine and I was awarded a top of the line Bernina sewing machine (which I had always wanted, but couldn’t possibly afford). Sewing is such a creative outlet and I enjoy it very much. I’m doing quite a bit of quilting at this time so this table would be very helpful.
From the time I watched my grandmother sew a quilt, to the afternoons I would come home from grade school and find my mom making me a dress, I have loved fabric and sewing. I still remember the first project I did and how much I enjoyed the fragrance of sizing as the pressed the seams on my simple shift dress. And to this day the smell of sizing brings a warm feeling of satisfaction to me. Sewing calms me …. inspires me …..and satisfies my creative side. It’s a true joy in my life and I spend many hours quilting. I just love it!
Sometimes I feel like I am going from one adult challange to another. Downsizing, divorce, deaths in family…you know, the typical things that we all face.
But no matter what is happening, when I need that “time” so that I can face anything that is being the crisis of the moment I can turn to sewing. Being creative …planning…pickiing fabrics..the hum of my machine..all seem to bring something to my soul that refreshes and renews me.
I only discovered how much I loved quilting recently and have a lot to learn. But I look forward to the journey.

I love to sew because I can produce individual and often original gifts for my friends, family and my home.
I love to sew because I can produce individual an often original gifts for my friends, family and my home.
I love to choose colors and patterns to create a quilt, and then cuddle up in it to watch TV in the winter. Or making a wallhanging to enjoy. It makes the house more homey.
I have been sewing as long as I can remember. Embroidering with Grandma. Making my own doll clothes. Using my paperdolls as croquis to design outfits. I love to sew. I’m tall and making my own clothes lets me have the correct lengths in sleeves, skirts and pant legs. I can come up with an idea and have an outfit that is just right in less time that it would take to find something that fits in ready to wear.
sewing keeps me sain
Sewing is my Zen the results of which are added benefit.
I love to sew and make quilts for family and friends.
Sewing is almost second nature to me. My mother was a seamstress and all my school clothes and dress clothes were made by my mom. She was constantly at the sewing machine, that is except when she was washing, cleaning and cooking for a family of six children. She loved sewing and passed that love on to me and to my sisters. I remember so vividly, even now, the dresses and skirts and blouses she made for me. So it wasn’t hard to follow in her footsteps. Not long after my hubby and I got married and moved away to a strange new city, I rented my first sewing machine. The rest is history. I love sewing because it stimulates my creative juices and helps me to relax. I always have a sewing project going and sometimes more then one at a time. My sewing room is my “Happy Room”. If I am feeling sad or down and out, I just go to the sewing room and immerse myself in one of my projects. Life doesn’t get much better than that!
When I’m in my sewing room, I’m in heaven! All my stresses disappear and my mind begins to engage in creative activities. I love to sew for my 5 grandchildren, make lovely quilts to wrap up in, and design and create clothes that fit me. My sewing room is a magical place! I love it!
I love to sew to relieve stress. I love to see my grandchildren wear the things I sew. They are at the age where they enjoy their Granny/Gigi sewing for them.
I sew because I love working with texture and color to create one of a kind garments! I love watching my work become a finished piece! I also find it relaxing!
My mother helped me to discover sewing when I was very young. So young, I don’t remember not knowing how to sew. She encouraged me to experiment and helped me along the way.
Now that I’ve been sewing for over 50 years I like the control I have to sew my own clothes, quilts, dolls accessories, gifts or anything else I might need or want. Sewing frees me from the tyranny of what designers and manufacturers say is “in.” I also enjoy sewing for charity auctions in my community. It’s a way to offer a piece of myself to worthwhile causes.
I love to do all sorts of crafty things, including sewing, knitting, and crocheting. But on the frequent occasions when my arthritis acts up, sewing is the only creative outlet that doesn’t make my hands hurt too much to do for more than a few minutes at a time.
I like to sew because it’s a creative outlet, and relaxing. I can make the clothes I want in the colors and fabrics that I want, but mostly I sew quilts. It’s very satisfying,
Sewing takes me to my peaceful place. My sewing room is the only room in the house that belongs to only me.
I used to hand stitch little purses for myself as a young child. I was introduced to machine sewing in school. Over the years I took sewing classes and now I sew clothing for myself. I tell people that I make hobbit clothing. I reread the book, The Hobbit & the description of a hobbit was similar to my physique. I love when I am able to find unique fabric that is makes my wardrobe different from everyone else.
I love to sew because it is creative yet mathemitical as well. I love the problem solving involved too. When you sew something, you have something beautiful and useful to show for your efforts. Thank you for the chance to win.
Sewing is very relaxing. I loved sewing clothes for my children and now I enjoy sewing for my grandchildren.
Sewing is the way I relax. I loved sewing for my children and now I love sewing for my grandchildren.
I love to sew for that moment of total satisfaction when you’re done making something. It feels so great to say, “See this? I made it myself!”
I am 75 years old and have been sewing since I was 10 or 11 years old. I use to sit at my grand mothers feet and move the pedal for her. I remember she used no patterns. She would spread the fabric (the sacks her cow feed came in) on the bed and just start cutting/. When we got a new dress we would go to town with her to pick out the feed sacks that she would use for our dress. Sewing is just second nature to me. I sew every day and never get tired of it. I have taught my daughter, grand daughter and now my 5 year old great grand daughter want to learn.
I would love to have the sewing table. I am getting arthretic arms and hands and this looks like it would make things easier.
I love to sew cause it relaxing me and in memory of my Mom; she was a great seamstress.
I have been sewing for about 30 plus years. I have made lots of things from clothes for my kids & grand kids, quilts, and lots of household items. it helps calm me down after a rough day at work. I have also taught my 2 daughters and my daughter in law. Now they are all hooked. I really don’t have a nice table to sew on so a Sew Steady portable table would be a wonderful additional to my sewing room. I can’t wait for my 2 granddaughters get old enough for me to teach them to sew.
I like to sew because.. it’s all I have known since I was a little girl… from a poor family my grandma taught me to sew from her scraps.. it was the only fun I really got to do growing p.. and now I recycle, reclaim , reuse all kinds of fabric.. thanks for the chance to make my machine more comfortable for me to use… love it..
I have been sewing since age 9. I enjoy creating things that are unique to my style and choice of fabric and colors. I love it when someone asks “Where did you buy that” and I can say I made it myself.
I love to make clothes that fit. And especially for special occassions or for the fabric that just spoke to me and said buy me!
When my Mother saw a slight interest I had in sewing as a child, she supported me 100% and made sure I got my first sewing machine in 7th grade. I have a love of sewing, and have done all types throughout the years. But my favorite is sewing for children. Making Christening outfits for the little ones and having those families be so overwhelmingly pleased, there’s nothing like it. Or the bridal gown I did for my daughter in law, and then baptism outfits for my own grandchildren. It’s been extremely rewarding throughout my life. It’s my time to be creative, or to wind down from a day that maybe was too much to almost handle. In sad times, happy times, and all other times…it’s my machine I turn too. Having that extra table room to extend my sewing area would be wonderful.
I love to sew for the ones I love! There is just so special about receiving something that is a original item, so that is why I like to sew.
I love to sew for the ones I love! There is just so special about receiving something that is a original item, so that is why I like to sew.
Sewing allows me a special outlet to my creativity. From a single piece of fabric I can create my vision. The gentle hum of the sewing machine or the rythm of needle and thread calm my nerves and bring me a peace that is so needed. I love sewing and am greatful for the generations of women who passed this gentle art down to me.
I love to sew for the feeling of accomplishment and joy of creating something original.
Canadians are great customers to interweave, give us a chance too!
Sewing is cathartic! I don’t think of anything other than what I’m working on or designing. Working with material, watching something take shape is something I never tire of doing. Especially costumes for the grandkids or even hubby and me for Halloween!!!
I have a pretty stressful job and sewing keeps me sane!
At one time sewing was a way of clothing my family, now it is my therapy.
I love the connection to past, present, & future generations that sewing give me.
Sewing creates a haven where I am in charge. What a release from the “real” world where I can control so little!
Sewing lets me dream, imagine, and remember…. I grew up learning to sew from my grandmother and my mother. My mom sewed everything – from Easter outfits for me (complete with coordinating coat) to slipcovers for couches and curtains. She taught me that if I could imagine it, I could sew it! I also learned to sew in 4-H and entered many items in the county fair. When I got married, my gown and and veil were a joint effort of mine and my mother. The bridesmaids dresses were also made — some by me and some by the bridesmaids themselves. I love the sewing/craft room my husband created for me when our son got married and moved away. It is my retreat!
I began sewing when I was a teenager and put my machine away when I was 42. Now after having grandchildren I began sewing again 2 years ago and can’t believe how things have changed. My oldest granddaughter wanted to learn to sew and I felt that it was something I could do. Now we want to work on quilting together so the table would be perfect. My passion has intensified now that I sew for myself and I find that it is very relaxing and I love it.
I like to sew because it makes me feel good! It is relaxing and gives me a creative outlet. If I am feeling blue or bored all I have to do is pick up a sewing project and before you know it I have forgotton all my troubles. Sewing tickles my endorphins!
I learned to sew as a child, first making doll clothes, then my own. I’ve sewed for my mother, my children, and friends for many different occasions, including making wedding dresses for my daughters-in-law! I love sewing!
Thank you for the opportunity to win this unique table.
I ENJOY CREATING AS WELL AS MAKING GIFTS FOR FAMILY AND FRIENDS THAT CAN BE PERSONALIZED. IT IS CONNECTING THE PAST WITH FUTURE SINCE MY MOTHER AND GRANDMOTHER SEWED AND HOPEFULLY MY GRANDDAUGHTERS WILL SHOW INTEREST IN LEARNING. SEWING IS ALSO A PART OF MY JOB AS A COSTUMER FOR CHURCH PROGRAMS FOR ABOUT 15 YEARS NOW AND BRINGS WITH IT A SENSE OF PRIDE WHEN I SEE CREATIONS ONSTAGE!
Sewing allows me the opportunity to save money, express my creativity, and custom fit my creations.
Thank you for offering this lovely prize of a Sew Steady Portable Table WITH accessories worth $190.
When my husband was in Desert Storm I was a nervous wreck. A coworker said “You need a hobby so I’m going to teach you to sew.” She was so right. I have found over the last 22 years that sewing saves your insanity. I am most prolific during the most stressful times of life.
I love sewing because it is my therapy! It relaxes me and helps ‘stitch’ away the troubles of the world! There is nothing better than sitting at my sewing table or in my easy chair with needle and thread! I love everything about touching and creating with the amazing fabrics and tools that modern sewers have accesss to. This table would be an amazing win!
I love to sew because it is one of the few things in my life that “stays done” and it connects me to the generations of needlewomen in my family (I own things made by two great-grandmothers, two grandmothers, several aunts, my mom and my daughter).
I love to sew because it lets me make something both creative and useful that is also one of a kind. And it’s relaxing!
It is wonderful to take a flat piece of fabric and bring it to life. Sewing makes my heart and spirit soar.
I adore the creative freedom that sewing gives me…the ability to create unique pieces that reflect who I am and the artistic playing with shapes, colors, fit, function all combine into one of a kind masterpieces. Sewing is both my love and my inheritance, my Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, and on thru the generations connecting me to my family and passing it onto my daughter, family & friends. Creating an garment, quilt, baby Christening gown, Halloween Costumes, prom dress, are all part of life and the special memories that we all treasure. These are all part of my love for sewing and expressing myself and my love for others. 🙂 Now back to creating…..
i love to sew because it is relaxing and most of all, it is rewarding to see the finished product … whether I’m making baby burp cloths or something special for my grandchildren. Sewing just makes me feel good!
I’ve been sewing since I was a kid sitting beside my mom cutting and piecing quilt tops to sell. I grew up poor so we would do what we could to make extra money. I love sewing, and I continue to sew for my grandchildren. Thanks for a chance to win!
Sewing is something I was raised around. I love to create things and it makes me feel like I can do things.
I love sewing because it’s fun to see what I create in my mind take life.
I love to sew because I can create unique items that you can’t buy in stores.
Sewing is a great relaxing hobby, a good design challenge and a wonderful way to make money. I sew for creativity, for art, for my girls (clothing) and for business. I couldn’t be more blessed. Well, maybe if I won the table…. lol 🙂
Oh, how could a person not love sewing? Its contemplative, its tactile, its visual. Its something that affects all of our senses in a positive way. Its my getaway, vacation and therapy all rolled into one!
Sewing connects me to my past; my mother, aunts, and both grandmothers loved to sew and were wonderful seamstresses. Sewing gives me a calming feeling, it is just something that enjoy immensely.
I had never sewn until about six months ago. My children are grown and my last one is in his senior year. I had loved to paint and draw, but just seemed to stop after my children were born. I wanted to get the “creative me” back and really needed some hobby to focus on. My cousin gave me one of her old sewing machines and I gave it a try. Nothing has ever felt as “right” as that first moment of pressing down on that peddle and watching needle go into fabric. It was instant love. Good thing I didn’t discover sewing years ago, or my children would have had to raise themselves. I’m addicted!
I love sewing because it is meditative, an occasion to use my brain to problem solve, and I end up with beautiful things for myself, friends and family. Did I mention that I save $? Yes!
I really enjoy sewing craft items, quilts both bedsize and art quilts. I learned how to sew on an old Singer treadle machine while a child growing up. Sewing is such a fun relaxing hobby. Thanks so much for offering this contest. I would love to win this sewing table. It looks fantastic !
Why I love to sew: so many reasons why….just for the pleasure of creating. For the relaxation it gives me…i can forget all my troubles and get happy when I’m sewing.
Oh, to win this sewing surface….I have one that is cut to fit one of my sewing machines, but I really, really need one for the machine I take when I travel! What a great treat that would be.
I sew mostly for gift giving…and I love to see the face of the recipient when they realize they have received a one-of-a-kind gift!
I love tosew and have been doing so since I was thirteen, it is my escape ,makes me calm and have a sense of accomplishment..I am excited about the chance to win the table as I am doing quilts right now

I love to sew just about anything I can get my hands on! Even if it’s just a patch on somebody’s jeans. Quilting is my passion because I can create something beautiful for someone I love and for others that have not. My only frustration is not having enough hours in the day and when my stiches aren’t straight! A Sew Steady Table would solve one, and not doing chores would solve the other! LOL Thanks for the opportunity!
Sewing is the one constant in my life that ties me to everyone…from sitting at my great-grandmother’s feet (watching her ‘treadle’) to sewing fun things for my grands to making gifts for hospice…I may not be great at it, but it doesn’t matter, I am good at it because it makes me feel good.
I started sewing way back in school and have continued on and off thought the years. If gives me a creative outlet and allows me to have fun too. It’s fun trying new designs and patterns and coming up with unique items for gift giving.
After a long and frustrating day at the office, it is nice to sit at the sewing machine and be in control of creating something that is fun – for yourself, a friend or just creating.
I have a card table as my sewing table with no extra space to put anything else up. Plus I’m wanting to learn to machine quilt with, you guessed it, no place to put the extra fabric. It’s being a learning experience for sure. One of your tables would sure brighten my attitude and spot! Sewing is my guilty pleasure. It lets me “get away from it all” and be creative, too!
Thanks for the giveaway chance.

Sewing allows my creative side to come out and play….love to sew.
I have been quilting less than 2 years and I love the feeling of creating something from fabric and knowing that my choice of pattern and specific fabrics are probably unique. I love to see the quilting emerging and changing two dimensional fabric to a three dimensional quilt! (and I never thought of myself as artistic!)
Yesterday I finished a queen quilt I’ve been working on for 7 months. I love making it but thought I’d enjoy being done. Wrong. I found myself looking for a new quilt I could get started on. So, not only do I love sewing because it allows me to produce lovely things for my friends & family; I really need to sew and a Sew Steady Table would definitely be a great aide to me.
Sewing is very satisfying. It gives an outlet for creativity and personal expression. I especially love knowing that someone cherishes the thing that you made especially for them!
My mom taught me how to sew on summer breaks from country school and I have loved to sew ever since. It is rewarding to see something you have made and it is really a blessing when I get complimented on something I have sewed. I really enjoy making birthday and Christmas presents for family and friends.
Sewing lets me be SEW creative !
Sewing lets me be SEW creative !
My mother would sew when I was very young. I would watch her for hours. She passed away when I was a teenager. She I would sew to connect her her. I would feel her closeness.I hope to pass down this love for sewing to daughter and grand daughter.
I find sewing, I sew everything, relaxing and creative. It is so peaceful.
Sewing is something I can do for myself. It just adds a certain calmness to my soul.
I love to sew because it allows me to have things that I may not be able to afford otherwise. It is blessing to both myself and my family.
I love to sew and create something that doesn’t have to be done again and again, like dishes! I also consider it therapy!
I don’t always love to sew. There are times when it can frustrate the daylights out of me. But when you finish your project, a quilt, dress, Halloween costume, then it is worth it. The pride you feel at creating something new, or finishing a job well done, that is when I love sewing.
I love to sew because it makes me feel appreciated and prowd when someone said “You made that, I love it. Can you make me one just like it “
Love to sew – have been sewing since I joined 4-H in the first grade. Taught my daughter to sew. Recently I have started quilting. Am going to make two curtains now out of a full size sheet. Quilting is relaxing and has helped me lose close to 40 lbs.
I love to sew as it gives me a chance to express myself in all kinds of colors and designs. I retired in 2004 and decided to pick up my sewing again. I love all the patterns and love sharing them with family and friends.
Thanks for allowing me to participate
I love to sew because I can take a flat piece of fabric and create eveything from beautiful clothing to warm my soul or a quilt to warm my heart to a craft item thatt tickls my fancy.
I love to sew for sew many reasons. Gifting, uniqueness, usefulness. It’s therapeutic, It’s fun! I love to make personal items like bags, hats, little things for the house that are individualized for whomever I’m sewing for!
Not sure if my post posted!I would love this table to help both me and my granddaughter as she has signed up for sewing with 4H and I think this would really be useful for us !Thanks
I love to sew and this table would be great !My granddaughter has signed up for sewing in 4H and I think this would really benefit her !All the help we can get would be appreciated !Thanks
Sewing brings me calm. I love putting the pieces together and having a fantastic end result that I can use/wear. I always dreamed of making my own clothes and have always tried. I’ve stuck it out with gritty determination and made many flops before I learned. I was almost completely self taught with just trial and error, which can be really frustrating. It made me unafraid to try new things and gave me new confidence. Now I love tutorials and when I get to try out new stuff. The challenge is great and there is always something more to learn! I also love the feeling of accomplishment when I have finished a project.
Sewing is my creative outlet. I love to play with color.
Even thought I am still learning ( and have a long way to go )
I sew love creating new things! and the feeling of accomplishment when a project is done is amazing!
It is such a great feeling when I get to see the look on my family’s faces when I finish a project for them and know that I actually made that 🙂
I hope to have many years of learning and then teaching my kids and grandkids
I love to make quilts! I am in several quilt block swaps right now and really enjoy sewing all the different patterns.
I love to help my daughter in her quilting!
I found a creative side in my embroidery machine that I didn’t know I had. It is so exciting to see a finished project that you can take such pride in.
I love to sew because I can make something that is unique and that actually fits. I am so tired of everything in every store being the same and geared for the teenage junior size. I may be a lot older but I still like fashionable clothes that are designed for a mature woman’s figure.
Very few stores have anything that is flattering and stylish while taking into consideration the changes an oder woman’s body under goes.
Sewing makes me happy. . .and cranky. . .and happy. . .and frustrated. . .and happy . . .and crazy. . .but mostly just happy!
I love sewing quilts. I belong to a quilting guild and we do numerous quilts for different charity organizations in our area. It is fun to be able to do something I love, quilting, for a very good cause.
Sewing energizes me and cheers me up when I’m feeling down. And it reminds me of my grandmother and my mother who were unstoppable when they were in the middle of a project. Sewing makes me feel like an artist – something I never realized I was until this late in my life.
I like to sew because I can turn my dream picture of a dress or home decor into a REAL item that is exactly what I wanted. It gives me the power of satisfaction.
I just started sewing a few months ago and I’m hooked. It has been a wonderful creative outlet and I love being able to use or see my young son play or wear my creations. I don’t have a sewing place so the table would be great. Thank you for the give away opportunity!
Sewing is literally me therapy. As a breast cancer survivor it keeps my mind off of treatments. Keeps my mind active. I think i’d go crazy if I didn’t have sewing as my hobby.
The act of sewing gives me an excuse to roam down isles of bolted fabrics seeking out the perfect blend of colors, textures, and patterns which fill my soul with the essence of inspiration!
I love to sew because it feels good to make things. I can be creative, inventive, and be in my own little world.
I enjoy the freedom to make choices, like fabric, color, expensive vs economical fabric, customizing, buttons, trim, ribbons……stop me.. I just enjoy all the choices out there.
I love to sew because you can make something that no one else has that perfectly fits the personality and shape of the one you are making it for!
Sewing allows me to tap into my inner creativity. I find that making my own patterns is the most rewarding.
I am working on simpler projects right now, as I’m just starting out- last night, I was cutting my fabric for my first attempt at an infinity dress! Of course, if that goes as well as planned, there may be more of those in my future…

Sewing. I love to sew. For the most part, it’s such instant gratification. There are SO many practical things you can whip together. Mix that with all of the awesome fabric options, what’s not to love?
I like all different types of crafts – knitting, crocheting, making jewelry, and of course, sewing. I enjoy making clothes, accessories for my home, and other things. I find it relaxing, gives me a sense of accomplishment, and the complements from others is nice too.
I love sewing because it a perfect combination of my love of fabric and my art degree. It is my artistic outlet and a gift of love when I can present my creations to their new owners.
I love to sew because it is wonderful making something with my own two hands and then being able to use it. I custom made my purse, with loads of pockets and tons of room for all the junk I carry around. I love sewing stuff to use, knowing that it will be great quality, and can save me money.
Sewing, as well as other crafts, is a way to elax and let the creativity flow. I love being able to make one-of-a-kind items.
I love to sew so I can create one of a kind things that amaze people the they are homemade. I have loved it since my aunt showed me how to make scrunchies when I was 8.
Sewing allows me an escape from a busy day and time to think of the person(s) I’m stitching for.
I learned to sew from my mother when I was 4. She taught me to make dresses for my dolls and then everything else.I love seeing know because it is a way to remember her and pass along what she taught me. A wedding dress is in my future soon. 🙂

I love to sew because I can make something that is uniquely my own. I love to sew for my daughters and to see the pleasure that they get from the results.
I love to sew and create items for my home and friends. A larger flat surface would be great.
I almost can’t remember “not” sewing. I sewed the printed fabric patterns for my Toni doll – didn’t like playing with dolls, just sewing for them. After 3 boys (who insisted that I become a quilter) I have 4 DGD’s who have AG dolls, who can join my small collection of “antique” (playable) dolls (who have yet to complain that they are dressed differently but using the same fabric). So I continues sewing, making wedding quilts for all my new DIL’s, nieces and nephews, and planning the college quilts for the Grands as they leave home – wedding quilts to follow!
Sew is both relaxing and creative for me. Would never given up my serger nor sewing machine. Always looking for accessories that make things easier.
I like to sew things for my family, My grandaughters especially it fills me with joy to see their smiling faces after receiving something I have made them.
There’s nothing like taking a few scraps of cloth and turning them into something awesome and useful.
I started sewing clothes in high school but stopped once my kids started school as they didn’t want to wear “homemade clothes”…what would their friends think? 🙂 So I took up painting in oils and loved the process but it always took so long to dry & the smell was a bit overpowering at times. I loved being about to work with all the colors and create my impressions of the things I saw. One day a co-worker of mine showed me one of her quilts. It was filled with color and you could tell it was an expression of who she was! She offered to show me how to make my own quilts. That was in the fall of 2003 and I now find that I am even better able to express myself in my quilts…love working with all the colors & designs of fabric and seeing all the possibilities of my fabric creations!!!
It seems I have always known how to sew. The machine is never put away. Always ready to stitch. A larger work work surface would be amazing.
I think I have always known how to sew and never put the machine away. A better sewing surface would be amazing. I love creating with my sewing machine.
Sewing is creating something on your own. I love the pleasure of creating something I made, a one of a kind item for myself or someone else. I spend many happy hours just thinking of all the things I can create.
I learned to sew from my Mom when a young girl and made my doll’s clothes. I love making things and seeing the pieces come together to make something pretty or practical. I find sewing very relaxing and I can loose myself in my project, while hours go by. I just like to sew!
I love sewing because I can design and have controll over the whole process. It also connects me with the past, especially quilting.
My mother was a seamstress but she past away when I was 3. When I sew I feel close to her. There are so many georgous fabrics out there, who can resist?
I learned sewing from my mom as a child and made most of my own clothes. Then I go exposed to Amish quilts on my first trip to the U.S. and the quiltbug bit me hard. Still love to create with sewing and have wanted one of these tab le exten sions for the longest time.
Prior to retirment, I shopped fabric sales like the obsessed woman that I am to accumulate a stash large enough to keep me busy for what I hope will be a long and leisurely retirement! I know my love of sewing is founded on my passion for creativity with color and design; the serenity I find in constructing bags, quilts, garments, home dec projects and more at my sewing machine; the satisfaction I receive when my sewing project is well made and completed; and, the pleasure I receive from giving home sewn gifts to others. For some time I’ve eyed the Sew Steady Tables on display at one of the sewing shops in my area, but always seem to find that life’s necessities move ahead of the Sew Steady Tables on my budgeting list. A chance to win gives me a grin!
I love the creativty and fun that sewing brings from taking raw or upcycled fabric and making something beautiful and useful for my family and friends. I would love to win this table to help me with my sewing projects. I have been sewing all my life having been taught by my Mom and Grandma. I make many of my own clothes as well as my children’s, home decor, costumes, etc.
I’ve been sewing for 65 years and my mother taught me to sew at 6; my grandmother taught me to quilt and crochet about 8. Mother also taught me to knit when I was about 12 and for the last 25 years I have also loved to bead. So, I am always doing one of the three–sewing/quilting, knitting or beading. I think I was born with a needle in my hand as I really can’t remember when I wasn’t doing something with my hands–started doing embroidery when I was 5–another thing my Mother taught me. I’d love one of these tables to use when I am quilting and sewing purses–the main thing I make now.
I love sewing because it is an avenue that allows me to release my creativity.
I’ve been sewing for as long as I can remember. I started with embroidery and hand sewing. When I was five, I asked my mother to let me use the sewing machine. It was a beautiful Singer that her parents had give as a wedding gift. She said I would have to wait until I could reach the presser foot.
Undaunted, I went and found a corrugated cardboard box. I put the box under the sewing machine and put the presser foot on the box. I went and got my mother and said, “See, I can reach the pressure foot. Now you can let me use the machine.”
At first, she was reluctant. Then she started to laugh because she appreciated the ingenuity. She showed me how to thread it, wind bobbins, change the pressure foot, adjust the tension, all that good stuff. My sister had the best dressed dolls of any of her friends.
I recently started doing a little sewing after years away. It’s so fun to make something that is ONLY yours. I love seeing all the young seamstresses who are keeping the craft alive.
I loved to sew when I was in high school…wish I knew then what I know now..how valuable my mom’s old treadle sewing machine would be today! I continued my love of sewing when my children came along. They always had nice things because I knew who made them! They did not wear too many ready-made items till they were ready for school. I STILL enjoy sewing..working on a couple of baby quilts now and really getting the bug to do more with quilting. I would truly enjoy winning your wonderful Sew Steady Deluxe Table Package…I purchased a new sewing machine this year and it would go well with these items. Thanks for the chance to win…
Before the world became so complicated, I made all my own clothing. Everything fit so much better than what I bought at the store. Now that I’m retiring, I want to go back to that quieter, calmer world, make clothes for myself and maybe learn quilting. I love knitting and weaving. It would be wonderful to weave my cloth and then make something from the cloth. That would be heaven. Hope I win.
Ooops! Why I love to sew? My mother was sewing for me before I was born and it has never occurred to me to not sew. I have a NEED to create, and sewing is my way of fulfilling that need, and making my best effort to create something beautiful.
I am now looking for a young person to teach my love of creating. Just might have found her.
I am sew ready for one of these tables. I had a young man work for me last fall that had worked for the Dream World company (not all that far from where I live) and he couldn’t understand why I didn’t have one of these tables. Now, I could make him happy and make me happy too. Thanks for the opportunity.
I love sewing as it has been my creative outlet for the last 60 years – the first 30 by making clothing and the last 30 mostly quilts. Sewers and Quilters make wonderful friends and I am truly blessed that it is part of my life! Dot
I taught my sewing 45 yrs ago when I got married. Turns out it was a very handy skill to have. Saved a lot of money by making things for the family and being able to do repairs on items instead of having to throw items away. I enjoy sewing as it touches my artistic side.
I love to sew because it is relaxing along with being creative. I love to see people’s smiles when I give them things I’ve made.
My mother taught me how to sew, then when I was in high school I took sewing for one of my classes. When you finish a product it give you a sense of accomplishment. When you start a project you have to be calm so no mistakes are made, so you really get into the product and lose all sense of time. With sewing you can do something to wear or something for your house. Everyone is so fast to go out and buy something when they should take the time and sew it and see how they feel afterward.
I love to sew because there is really no other affordable way to get the custom-fitted, perfect color and design, results that are exactly what you want! (And the portable sewing machine table looks like a great idea.)
I’m a terrible sewer. I once sewed the back to the front of a pair of pants wrong not once but three times! Traumatized me for 20 years. Then I realized that I still have beautiful garments I sewed around the same time and here I am, starting it up again. I love the feel of the fabric, watching the project grow, and the sense of accomplishment.
I like to sew because then I have something that is exactly what I want instead of close enough. I also like to recycle fabric from things that have outlived there usefulness and give it new life and purpose. I have recycled the denim from an old sofa and so far made three completely different projects out of it and I still have pieces left to create new things.
I love to sew because you can create something that you cannot get in a store. It is unique to you!
My older sister sewed for me when I was little…I sewed my own first outfit at about 13 years old…and love making clothing that fits out of fabrics I love.
Love to Sew — been sewing since I started 4-H in the 1950’s and now I am retired. Have made clothes for myself and my daughter, bassinet cover, curtains, etc. Now I am learning to quilt. I have two granddaughters enrolled in college this year so I made each of them a poof and a bedside caddy. I made a Renaissance costume for one granddaughter this summer. Sewing is fun and relaxing.
I love to sew and it allows me to feed my addition to fabric! I make clothing, quilts and also sew home dec items. Some might question the desire to cut fabric into pieces just to sew it together again, but I am particularly awed when I see the results of quilt challenges and projects where different people use different fabrics to make the same pattern…..
Sewing is a creative joy. When I was a very young girl, I would watch my mother and my grandmothers sew for family and friends. When I was 5 years old I begged my mother to teach me and I sewed my first doll clothes. It wasn’t a great job, but I made it myself and that started me on a lifelong love of sewing. When I was young, I would make clothing for myself and my brothers, then bookbags and backpacks for college. Now I sew for my own children – clothing, quilts, pillows and doll clothes. I feel connected to my family and heritage, my mother ( a retired schoolteacher) has been teaching sewing and quilting to teenagers for the past decade. I bought a small sewing machine for my daughter last year for her 4th birthday and she has already made a few pants, skirts and dresses for her dolls! It is difficult for her to hold the fabric straight with her little hands and a table would make that so much easier. I am thrilled to be passing on this family legacy to my young daughter – it’s shocking how few women my age and young girls know the art of sewing.
The reason I love to sew is to make something special and individual that no one else has. Even if it is the same pattern you put your own personality into it by choosing the fabric, thread and notions.
Another great thing about sewing is that you are never done learning.
The sewing table looks fantastic, good tools can make a difference in how much you enjoy sewing.
Marsha

I like to be able to create exactly what I imagine and not be limited to what’s available in the marketplace, and to be able to customize the fit, etc.
I returned to sewing when I had my two boys. It was a joy to make their clothes. When they got older I started quilting. Sewing became my quiet time, my relaxation at the end of the day. Now my boys are on their own and sewing is my comfort.
I am new to sewing. I have made several pairs of dorm pants for my kids and a couple of skirts for myself. I would like to make some knitting project bags. I attended Stitches East last October and purchased a sewn knitting project bag and would like to try to replicate one.
I love to sew because I enjoy working with beautiful fabrics.
I like sewing just because it’s fun to create things, especially making things that actually match. I also enjoy the money saved by sewing. That sewing table would be an awesome addition. Thanks for the chance to win.
I love to sew because I get to play with color AND texture!
I love to sew because I get to play with color AND texture!
Sewing makes me happy. I love to create something new and colorful, to make something useful and beautiful at the same time. Taking bits of cloth and thread, cutting up cloth and creating beauty is a joyous process!
This Canadian who purchases Interweave products is not eligible to enter your contest. Myself, family and friends love to sew; who wouldn’t appreciate & use a sewing table? I would suggest that a contest for Canadians only would be appropriate.
If I do not have a flat surface surrounding my sewing machine I feel I am paddling upstream without an oar.
Sewing is my connection to my family members and friends near and far, past and present. And for those less fortunate.
I could sew 24/7 whenever I have the perfect setup and surface.
I love to sew because of the love my mother shared with me of handwork, and the excitement I enjoy when creating something following the picture in my imagination!
I love to sew for the thrill of it.
There wasn’t a time that I remember when there wasn’t fabric, thread and needle around me. My Mother sewed when my Grandmother converted her treadle machine to electricity and passed it on to her. I made clothes for my dolls and then graduated to sewing for myself. When I finished College and others were going off on trips or to Graduate School, all I wanted was the latest BERNINA and I am still sewing on it 40 years later. Sewing connects me to generations of women who sewed because they loved it, dressed their families and least we forget, tried to make a living in large factories and small rooms taking any sewing they could get.
I have a great sense of accomplishment and peace when I sew either for myself or for others. I am participating in an Art form that will never be replaced by technology and makes me proud to be part of a community and those who have come before me and will come after me.
It’s unfortunate you restrict this giveaway to US residents only. Lots of Canadians and other readers/members might enjoy winning. 🙁
I like having the freedom to create what’s in my mind’s eye, and producing a better quality product than what can be purchased in the store.
Like many others I learned to sew at my mother’s knee as she tailored my dad’s suits or clothes for my sister and I. She loved that I learned from her and took it even further. I began with clothing then delved into quilts, knitting, making soap, spinning etc.
Sewing gives me an opportunity to dress myself and to decorate my surroundings with personal creativity. The lucky me who learned to sew as a child gets to
translate the blessings of inspiration and a bit of skill into visible results! When I’m sewing,I’m transported into a
realm of color and texture, math and magic, precision and decision that never ceases to amaze me.

I love creating we things and also repairing clothes for my family. Plus ts a fun activity with my daughter!
Awesome giveaway. Would love this for my crafting projects!
We sew bibs for our handicapped population. This looks like a great product !
Coming from a small community I love to sew because it allows my style to be unique. Also the fit you get with handmade tailored clothes is not something you will ever find in a premade clothing store no matter what the price tag is.
I am a quilter. I would love to win this table. It would be great to have at workshops and quilting retreats.
By being able to express myself and my style through my sewing. 🙂
I love to sew because it is a creative outlet for me. Thanks. 😀
I have been lucky enough to have inherited my love of sewing from my dear mother.
when I was a little girl, she made dresses and blouses for myself and my sisters by hand. yes by hand, every stitch. and now I am 58 and can still remember my teachers all being so impressed with her work, now those moments mean so much to me.
and I am proud of her, so very very proud
she taught me to sew, knit, crochet and to cook. and so much more.
she has always been my biggest supporter, as I am hers. and I am so lucky to still have her in my life.
my love came from her, and the time we spent sewing, and creating.
and I am so grateful for all I have gotten from her
I have been sewing since I was in Home Ec class in high school. That is close to 50 years ago. I let it go for several years, but then started quilting about a year ago. It just gives me peace especially after a hard day at work.
I love to sew. I learned from my Mom and Mrs; Cooper (my home ec teacher about 40+years ago). I have used my sewing talents in many ways from sewing dance dresses one summer, costuming shows for theater productions and now I am teaching women to sew. Other jobs and crafts have come and gone but sewing has always been with me. YEAH!
I like to sew because I can be creative and it is relaxing. Plus it gives me a change to bond with my nine year old daughter now that she sews.
I love to sew, especially quilt, because it’s a creative outlet that I need!
I love sewing because I get to be creative and I end up with something wonderful that I made.
I love to sew, it keeps me in touch with the love my grandmother used to share. She piqued my interest early by teaching the basic fundamentals. While she did not have much money, she shared her love of sewing with others who were less fortunate, with a gift of a dress, scarf, and/or hanky. My best memories are spending summer with her and learning. Just like her, I share my love with those I meet. Now I am sharing my love with my own grandchildren.
I love sewing because it’s cheaper than therapy! 😉
The fabric, the patterns, the notions…..it’s all so much fun!
For me, sewing is a stress reliever (even when I have to whip out the seam ripper). I love being able to relieve stress and make something that makes me feel good about myself!
With 4 sons and a grandson, sewing is my refuge from “guy things”.
I love to sew because the joy of creating is so satisfying to my soul. I love all aspects of sewing and there is always something new to do and enjoy.

Sewing lets me express myself creatively. Plus who doesn’t love the feel of fabric and playing with color.
Sewing makes me happy. I
I am in a lot of back pain each day. Even though I am a novice sewer, my main focus is quilting, I seem to be able to deal with the pain better by sewing. Sewing takes me to another world of colors, challenges, styles and just plain fun.
Sewing gives me a chance to be creative and free my imagination. My cats have brand new items to take over, too.
I love to sew because it gives me a creative outlet, which helps keep me sane!
Hi! Love to sew because it is my way of creating . I am not the greatest cook. Besides sewing is it’s own kind of therapy . Sewing has so many ways of expressing yourself, quilting, fashion, knitting, crocheting and many more. And I love it so much. Thanks for the giveaway.
I have been sewing for yrs, it allows me to create my own style and fit
I love sewing because it’s a way of relaxing. It’s wonderful to express creativity through fabric and thread. I love seeing what I can create and bringing joy to others through my creations. A day without sewing is like a day without sunshine!
I love to sew because I get such a sense of accomplishment. You make something beautiful by using scraps.

Thank you for the chance to win. 🙂
I love to sew because I like to have clothing and home accessories that have that “special” touch.
I love to create. I also remember as a small child sitting in the floor stringing buttons while my grandmother was sewing. I love it.
I don’t remember at what age I began to sew and I don’t know who was my influences, I just remember making Barbie clothes and doll clothes when I was very small. I can’t begin to describe the joy I get from sewing, in fact when I was searching for my present house one of the things on my list was a separate room just for me so I could create a sewing sanctuary, now if only I could convince my husband that I need a bed in there I would never have to leave my perfect room
i love to sew and give things as gifts. I have been making quilts for raffles to raise money for care packages for our troops. It is a small thing, but it lets them know we care.
Sewing is so relaxing and I love the creative output!
I’ve been sewing since my grandmother taught me at age 8. Hand sewing at first, then on to machine sewing on her Singer feather weight. We made doll clothes, clothes for my kids, and then quilts, until she passed away. While sewing certainly relaxes me, gives me a creative release, and opportunities to do for others, it brings me back to the wonderful days in the company of someone who loved me so much as to leave a piece of herself with me that would always bring me comfort in the years ahead. I am thankful, and because of her, I am passing the love of sewing onto my 8 yr. old neice. Thank you for this opportunity to win a wonderful tool!
I love to sew to create unique things for myself, my daughter and my home.
I love to sew because it is therapy in many ways. Sewing lets me be creative by applying the colorful materials to a project. It keeps my mind sharp when placing pieces together, measuring and using math. Somewhere I read that things like that help prevent Alzheimers.
Most of all I love sewing, because when I create with material I usually do it for a specific person. When that person receives a creation and I see the big smile in his or her face, I thank God that he gave me the gift to create, the brains to figure something out and the skills to work with my hands.
Well it all started back when I was 10 years old. My Mom took me to a sewing class and asked the teacher to have me sew the hardest thing, which by the way was a jacket. Since then I have sewn, wedding gowns and veils, wedding party attaire and drapery/window treatments. My love of sewing is creating what no one else has. I sewed for my three children all the way into adulthood. My only granddaughter is well dressed at at 20 months. However the best items that I have created are quilts. Quilts that tell a story. My last two quilts that I sewed are of my elderly father’s WWII military career with pictures printed on fabric and the highlight was the printed letter that he received from President Franklin D. Roosevelt. The last one was for my elderly mother, of pictures, again printed on fabric, of her life from childhood to her wedding and anniversaries totally 64 years married, her five children, nine grandchildren and four great grandchildren and two sonograms for the two great granchildren on the way. This was titled “through the years”. Needless to say it brings tears to everyone’s eyes when they see it. But the best part of my sewing experience, is that I was able to start a quilting group for the Gold Star Mothers in my home state. For those of you who do not know who they are, they are the mothers who have lost children fighting for our freedon in the Iraq and Afghanistan Wars. It is more of a therapy session for them, we laugh, we cry, we eat togther and we sew!!! And as a military mom it has helped me as well. It has brought many of them back to what they loved before their tragedies, the love for sewing. So if I win the table, that is something else we would share. !! Hope to hear from you !! Valerie
Sewing has always been a comfort for me, in good times and in bad. It keeps me grounded and out of trouble! I love sharing the fruits of my labors.
I have been sewing since a young child making barbie clothes, now I do quilts, carrying on the tradition of my grandmother and my mom.
Mom and I spent many nights sewing until I finish this piece only to look up and realize it is 3am and then have to rush to bed for a couple hours of sleep before work the next day. My grandma taught me how to hand quilt on the frame, so I have many memories of sewing with both of them. Now both Mom and Grandma are gone and when ever I can I get together with friends to quilt, these are happy times, I hope to one day teach my granddaughter how to sew, like I was taught by hand cranking the old singer featherweight.
Sewing is creative and relaxing and I would love to win a table.
I love to sew and make quilts. I made a quilt for my niece just recently and she loved it so now I’m working on another quilt for her sister. Sewing is very relaxing for me. My aunt showed me how to quilt several years ago and when she passed away I got out of quilting but I have a niece who started sewing and quilting so we now do it together and we have so much fun. We are going to make Christmas gifts this year so I’m looking forward to starting that project! 🙂
I have been sewing since high school. Love all the things I can have by sewing and creating my own special items. My oldest daughter introduced me to quilting and I have enjoyed every minute of working with quilts and making them for the great grandchildren as well as the grandchildren. Would love to win the sew steady table.
I love to sew because it is such a creative outlet. I love to see what’s in my mind come to fruition in fabric.
I enjoy quilting. It is my therapy. It relaxes me.
That is why I sew.
Thanks for the opportunity to win such a cool prize!

I love to sew because it’s the only me time I get. It’s my way of relaxing.
Sewing has been a life long love. It feeds my creative spirit, and puts me in a happy place. I get no end of satisfaction from the items I sew for myself and others and in particular from the items I sew for the several charitable projects our local quilting guild is involved in. I love it so much that I carry a machine in the RV when hubby and I travel so I can continue working on projects and enjoying the craft.

I have always wanted a larger table than the one that came with my Bernina and to be able to WIN one would be even greater. Thanks for letting us be able to get one for FREE.
I love to sew and make gifts for everyone. I also sew for charity as a way to give a little soimething back to the community.
I took Home Ec classes from junior high through high school. My grandmother quilted and my aunt (her daughter) made all her husband’s western suits and even made my prom dresses in high school. So, I have been lucky enough to inherit their talent. I have just started to quilt and love it very much.
My son passed away in 2009. Needless to say, I’ve gone through some difficult times since then. Getting back to sewing is one of the things that has helped me cope with these difficult times. It is a reminder of happy times and a distraction from sad times. I especially like to do quilting because it is a chance to express myself creatively.
Sewing is calming and relaxing for me. It’s creative; it gives me a sense of satisfation. Sometimes it serves a need, like when I can’t find clothes that fit. But most of the time it is just pure enjoyment.
I am a very detailed person and you can’t get much more detailed than paper piecing! I love to make lap quilts for my daily nap time, place mats and bags. I have 2 Sew Steady tables and I love them both. I need one for my embroidery machine with the module attached. I would love to win this!
I love taking multiple pieces of fabric and making a beautiful quilt. Having this table will help me learn how to quilt my quilts with a more freehand method.
I love to sew because it’s great therapy & much cheaper than a therapist! No, really, because I love to create…it satisfies my artisitic side.
I’ve been sewing since I was a little girl, so for me, it’s all about love and familiarity. I love the softness of fabric, and creating gifts, clothing, etc is just so exciting to know that YOU made that.
I like to sew because it calms me. When life is stressful sewing gives me something to focus on other than what is making the stress in my life. (and, it keeps me out of the bars.)

I love to sew because it is calming and a great creative outlet. I love it when people say “you made that!?!?” I’m very proud of the things I sew. I especially enjoy sewing cute clothes for my daughter, that she loves to wear! Thanks for the great giveaway!

I love to sew because it makes me feel more self-sufficient and I love to create magic with my hands!
Good luck everyone!

I would love having a larger flat surface to sew on while making my Christmas gifts for this year and doll clothes for my granddaughters’ dolls.
I love to sew.. the humming of the machine is my meditation.. no interruptions just me and the foot peddle.
Sewing keeps me sane! I love working with fabric and the creative energy and flow that goes when sewing something.
My great grandmother, grandmother and mother all taught me the joy of sewing…I have been sewing since I was 6 soooo that makes me sewing for about….51 years! OH MY! I have sewn for all my children and have always found such a peace with sewing…when my youngest daughter (who is an avid sewer and crafter now) was 2 and having a hard day she would sit in my lap as I sewed…calming to both of us…i now enjoy sewing for my grandchildren and helping young people know the value of sewing as a lost art…I am also blessed to have a wonderful sewing space and can take on large tasks….like the one currently at hand…sewing 7 bridesmaids dresses…what a joy! The “Sew Steady portable table” looks like it would be a great addition to sewing space and to be able to take it places with me!
As a Canadian, we are able to make all the purchases from interweave and Craftsy and Sew Steady Tables, we Canadians are not eligible for your giveaways. I think this is an unfair practice, and i hope it will be put right one day soon. I enjoy sewing as much as anyone else.
