TV Guests – EllynAnne Geisel
EllynAnne Geisel first tied on domestic armor in 1999 while writing an article about aprons. She was struck by the history that must be woven into the fabric of the vintage icon. She’s since gathered more than 600 aprons and apron memories from across America. From those stories, EllynAnne curated and wrote Apron Chronicles, a traveling exhibit managed by The Women’s Museum in Dallas. EllynAnne’s aprons have been featured in Vogue and worn by the character Bree Van de Kamp on Desperate Housewives. She’s the author of the award-winning books: The Apron Book: Making, Wearing and Sharing a Bit of Cloth and Comfort, The Kitchen Linens Book and Apronisms: Pocket Wisdom for Every Day (Andrews McMeel Publishing). She also creates vintage-inspired designs for her company, Apron Memories and is the creator of National Tie One On Day, which is recognized annually on Thanksgiving eve by Chase’s Calendar of Events in celebration of the humble apron. She’s been featured on CBS News Sunday Morning and NPR’s Weekend All Things Considered. EllynAnne is the mother of two available adult sons and lives with her “prince charming” in Pueblo, CO.
