Stitch Fest Was Sew Fun!
As we all head home from this year’s Maker Festival, I can’t help but sit here and smile from ear to ear. We have had an amazing four days together with classes that spanned knitting, crochet, spinning, quilting, and sewing. There was no shortage of classes to take, especially for those of us who want to make everything. And when we were not learning a new skill, we were walking around the Marketplace, which was filled to the brim with the most beautiful handcrafted supplies and products.
Combining our different communities to make this event not only Yarn Fest but also Stitch Fest allowed all of us makers who consider ourselves multi-craftual to get inspired by new crafty pursuits. And with this being our first combined event (Stitch Fest + Yarn Fest) in Loveland, I know it will just get better and better.
Here are some of my highlights from the last day of Maker Festival:
✓
Teaching sewists who were previously scared of sewing knits that it is just as easy as sewing with woven fabric.
✓
Showing the power of taking your body measurements and making a pattern fit you.
✓
The excitement of that last day in a Marketplace where you go for it and buy the things you have been eyeing for days.
✓
Students and vendors showed off the things they made; the marketplace wouldn’t be what it is if it weren’t for our vendors and students.
The excitement I saw throughout this event made all the hard work getting here worth it. Across all maker communities, we have people that are already talking about coming back next year, and if that isn’t a stamp of approval, I don’t know what is.
The best part about our Maker Festivals is that we still have two more happening this year, so if you missed out on Loveland, you can still join us in Milwaukee or Lancaster (or both!). Registration is open for Milwaukee, and if you act fast, you can still get the early bird pricing for all the amazing classes through tomorrow! We hope to see you all in Milwaukee, where we can continue to share our love of making with all of you.
We’d like to thank our sponsor, Janome. We loved using their machines in our classes!
