Sew News Fall 2022: Taking Chic to the Streets
This issue is special for a lot of reasons, not the least of which is that Meg Healy is our new Sew News editor. Meg says, “Excited is an understatement for how I feel about this opportunity to continue to grow the magazine, and more importantly the community. I will thrive to inspire, educate, and engage you — the readers. And thank you to Amanda Carestio for everything you have taught me and done for Sew News.” Amanda will definitely be missed, but we are looking forward to continuing her legacy in Sew News and on Sew Daily.
Inside this Issue of Sew News
This fall we are taking chic to the streets! Inside you’ll find inspiration, how-to, and patterns to stitch up a fall capsule wardrobe that will take you from day to night — and everywhere in between. Travel is back on the rise, and just in time for the holidays, we have sustainable pieces that you can make for a trip — let the fun begin ahead of time in your sewing studio.
Here is what you can sew (and pack):
- Create a custom indigo-dyed fabric bag to take on the go.
- Reuse terry cloth scraps to stitch up an essential spa set.
- Stitch up a cute and casual cami dress that is travel, layering, and comfort friendly.
- Join us for the Longmont Overalls Free Sew Along!
And if you feel like staying put this season, we have lots of sewing projects for you. Use up scraps and refresh old pieces in your wardrobe by making fun sewing merit badges for your friends, plus, hoodie hacks! Get out those drafting rulers and create a custom paper-bag waist skirt, alter a tank into a swinging suede piece, and transform a shirtdress into a color-blocked look.
You can also dust off your coverstitch machine (or take your new one out of the box), and learn all about coverstitch sewing with Johanna Lundström. Whatever you are looking to explore with your sewing this fall, you can find it in this issue of Sew News.
