Project Runway: Week in Review
One Size Does Not Fit All
Woo-hoo! Another season of Project Runway started last night and we are giddy with glee!

My absolute favorite part of this season is that they are using models with REAL bodies–sizes 0-22. All shapes, sizes, figures and skin colors are represented. This put a spin on things, and the designers were actually HAPPY with the decision, despite a few inappropriate comments from Chacha, which seemed innocent enough I suppose.
I also really enjoyed that the designers are using Frixion marking pens this season to sketch their designs. I wonder if they will start using them to mark on fabric, which is how I like to use them! They erase with heat from your iron! Super cool.
The challenge: Create a runway-worthy look that showcases your point of view as a designer.
My favorite look of the night? This shimmery seemingly embroidered number by Ayana.
Her point of view is “modest chic” and I completely fell in love with it! She didn’t get a critique, but was “safe” to move forward in the competition.
Winner? Deyonte! His large-scale print was loved by all, despite initial reservations from Tim at the critique. I loved what he did and his model looked stunning.
Poor Chacha. He really missed the mark. His garment looked like a sack with scrunchies attached to it. Bye, bye Chacha!
Clearly, his model is not thrilled with the result, either.
I’m really pulling for Kenya, Brandon and Margarita. I also think Samantha has promise. Overall, I think this group has real potential now that Chacha is gone.
Let’s see what happens next week!
