Online Instructor: Patti Lee
Patti Lee, Vice President of Consumer Relations for Sulky of America
Patti and the team at Sulky have a long history together, which began when Patti bought a top-of-the-line sewing machine in 1976 from Fred Drexler (future co-founder of Sulky). Along with the sewing machine came a free class, which introduced her to free-motion teacher, Joyce Drexler (future co-founder and Creative Director for Sulky), and that was the beginning of a beautiful relationship.
For years before that Patti was an active sewer of Home Dec items like curtains, slipcovers, etc. When she experienced how much fun it was to learn new, creative machine art techniques from Joyce (along with other people), she decided to teach those techniques in her own town.
Prior to her working fill-time with Sulky, Patti was active in Community Association Management in Florida for 20 years. Patti says, “There were many unpaid years voluntarily doing what I love with Sulky; but in 1997, I joined the company full-time and have never looked back.”
At Sulky, consumer satisfaction is her number one priority. She is the go-to person for all questions from consumers, designers, authors and teachers about using Sulky products; she loves to help solve problems and make people happy.
Patti is responsible for the Sulky Certified Teacher Training curriculum, with artistic and creative input from Ellen Osten and Carol Ingram. It’s been a wonderful partnership, and we are delighted to now be able to bring these exciting classes to the world online.
She has contributed numerous projects and techniques to Sulky books in addition to co-editing almost all of them. She is a machine embroidery expert and is responsible for the creation of the Sulky Embroidery Zen programs, which are taught all over the country.
