How to Listen to a Podcast
Sewing podcasts are on the rise in the sewing community. From Love to Sew to our own recently released Sew & Tell, sewing podcasts are a great way to get information, learn about new patterns and hear a wide variety of perspectives from within the sewing community. Many sewists like to listen to podcasts while they’re sewing.
If the podcast format is new to you, a podcast is very similar to a radio broadcast; however, they’re pre-recorded so they’re available for you to listen to at any time. Listening is easy and free: here’s a handy guide for how to listen to a podcast. We’ll use our own podcast as an example, just to keep things clear, but the process is the same for all podcasts.
1. Listen in your web browser.
It’s that easy! The process is the same for desktop computers, mobile phones and tablets. Go to our main page, click on the episode you’d like to listen to and click the play button.
Not all podcasts have a related site where episodes are posted, but many do.
2. Listen through an app.
If you have a smart phone or a tablet, you can download a variety of apps that will allow you to listen to the podcast. Most of these apps are free and are easy to download through your Apple or Android app store. In many cases, a podcast app will be one of the basic apps that is already on the device when it’s purchased. From the app, you can listen to each new post as they become available. If you subscribe to our podcast (by hitting the subscribe button), each new episode will automatically show in your feed – that’s the easiest way to make sure you don’t miss an episode.
