3 Mother’s Day Gifts to Sew: Mom-believably amazing!
Here at Sew Daily, we believe that Mother’s Day should be a celebration for all the nurturing and loving figures in our lives. Family structures are diverse and handmade gifts can be enjoyed by mothers, mother-like figures, fathers, grandparents, friends, and all the people in our lives that provide support, encouragement, and love.
Here are three special gifts to make for that wonderful person in your life.
1. Mise En Place Kitchen Scarf
Have you heard of a kitchen scarf? It is sometimes called a kitchen boa or apron scarf; let me tell you, it is a cook’s dream come true! It is for wiping your hands and protecting your clothes and comes in handy as makeshift oven mitts in a pinch (just be extra careful!). I have batch sewn these to give as gifts and sell them at markets. They are a BIG HIT!
I’m a visual learner, so I made a video showing you how to make this project.
Complete Mise En Place Kitchen Scarf instructions are in Sew News Summer 2023 issue or as an individual pattern in our shop. I used my favorite flour sack tea towels for the scarf ends. I like to keep these in my studio to use for projects like this one and my embroidered tea towel Mother’s Day gift.
2. Sewing Coupons
Want to make something special but don’t know what, or maybe you don’t have the time? Then, why not print some sewing coupons? Meg created these free printable coupons that are perfect for slipping into a card this Mother’s Day!
3. I beg your garden?
Is your loved one a gardener? Spring is the time to get started on those raised beds and patio pots, and when you’re using handmade gardening tools, it’s even more fun! I love this collection of gardening essentials that includes a seed keeper, a tool tote, and a knee pad!
Sew up some handmade love for those nurturers on your gift list this year. And don’t forget to take some time to sew for yourself!
Happy gift sewing, and Happy Mother’s Day!
Sadie
P.S. Have you received a handmade gift that you cherish? Leave a comment and share it—I’m always looking for new gift ideas to stitch.
