Other Notes
Meg’s Negative Ease Body Measurement Calculations:
For your typical 20% Spandex/Lycra 80% Nylon/Polyester blend stretch fabric with 4-way stretch: To sew a swimsuit or workout apparel garment, make sure that your pattern is about 90% of your body measurement. This is called a 10% pattern reduction.
EXAMPLE:
- Waist measurement is 28”
- Pattern measurement around the waistband needs to be 25 ¼” (28 x 0.9 = 25.2)
- Note: I round up to the nearest ⅛” measurement.
