You’ll learn to consider what shape of leg is most comfortable and flattering for your pants and what type of leg shape works best for the type of shoes you usually wear. Learn how to adjust the basic pants pattern to create the leg shapes that works best for you!

- Recognize the differences in pants regarding fabric and construction
- Place the waist in a few different ways
- Modify a pants pattern to extend the waist, known as a Hollywood waist
- Make the appropriate considerations before modifying your pants pattern
- Recognize which type of pants work best on various types of bodies
- Draft a waistband template on to pattern paper if you don’t have a ready-made template
- Choose the correct type of zipper for various types of pants
- Place zippers on pants appropriately
- Trace off a pattern onto pattern paper
- Adjust pants patterns to accommodate three different types of pockets
- Adjust the pattern for extra width (trouser shape or wide leg)
- Adjust the pattern to fit closer to the leg or to taper into a cropped slit hem
- Adjust the pattern below the knee (boot cut or bell bottom)
- Finish with specific hems for each leg shape
