Description
This sewing project upcycles a sweater into a hat with multiple styling options. Construction is simple, but pleats and top ties add sophistication and improve fit, while the optional embellishment adds a feminine touch.
Required Materials:
FABRIC
— Look for a gently loved knit sweater
with a ribbed lower edge with a
12″ minimum width, in cashmere,
lightweight merino, or a soft blended
knit.
NOTE: The ribbed edge must have at
least 20% stretch. To test your knit,
measure and mark a 5″ horizontal
section. By gently stretching, the fabric
should expand to 6″. If the fabric is less
flexible, add ½” seam allowance to the
hat pieces.
FINISHED SIZE
18″ circumference × 6 ½” high
