Lingerie might be the ultimate sewing challenge and it can seem challenging to make a bra on your own. Good news! It’s not!
Sewing lingerie is rewarding, exciting and A LOT easier than you might think! Being able to make your own underwear and bra is a great way to personalize your wardrobe, and a great way to get creative and experiment with fabrics, prints, and textures.
In this 5 session course, you will create a 10-piece lingerie collection made to your measurements and that you can personalize to your taste and liking.
You will learn how to draft and alter basic lingerie blocks and how to alter them to different styles of panties and bras. You will also learn what fabrics to choose, how to sew your lingerie garments and get step-by-step instructions on how to install underwires, boning, elastics, and all those other small but important details.
This course will give you the tools to become your own lingerie expert and you will excel both as a sewer AND pattern drafter!

What You Will Learn:
- Draft and sew three different bra styles: a classic full cover bra, a demi style bra and a bralette style triangle bra.
- How to draft a basic panty block and design three different panties: classic bikini panty, hipster panty, and a vintage style panty.
- Techniques to alter bra patterns for larger or smaller cup sizes.
- Draft and sew a slip, camisole and petticoat.
- Sewing techniques for panties including how to sew lace trims and elastics.
- How to sew padded bra cups, underwires and boning.
- What fabrics, tools, hardware and supplies to choose for lingerie making.
The Expert:
My Johansson-Ganjoo is a sewer, dressmaker, knitter, and maker. She first began sewing as a young girl and has since then let her interest in sewing grow into something more accurately described as an obsession. After sewing for friends and family for years she started her own dressmaking business five years ago making custom made vintage inspired dresses. When she’s not teaching sewing, making custom orders and knitting, she blogs at Maelle Makings. She believes there is nothing better than handmade clothes and she loves to spread her enthusiasm and passion for sewing.
