Description

Learn the skills necessary for grading a pattern larger or smaller. Whether you wish to grade a single-size or a multi-size pattern, learn to understand the principles by which patterns are graded, as well as the method of hand grading. Knowing how to grade patterns by hand is an essential skill for any patternmaker, whether professional or home sewists.

Once you’ve grasped the basics, you will be able to resize any pattern by as many sizes as you wish; you can grade consecutive sizes individually or grade by multiples in one step. Note that this grading method only changes the pattern size-it does not alter the fit.

This course is great for beginner to advanced sewists, patternmakers and designers who want to improve their knowledge of sizing patterns.

What You’ll Learn

  • The different amounts for grading
  • Figure the breakdowns for a 2″ grade
  • How to set up the pattern pieces to grade

  • Grading process for sleeves
  • Grading process for different style variations, such as princess seams, knits, plus sizes, men’s wear and children’s
