If you’ve already completed our Burda Style Teacher Certification and are looking for your next challenge, it’s time to upgrade your certification to include outerwear!

Covering everything from lining to specialty pockets and hoods, this course will expand your sewing skill set and equip you with the knowledge to teach others how to construct coats. You’ll learn six additional sewing techniques that are key to completing Burda Style’s wide array of advanced-level coat patterns including classic pea coats, timeless trench coats, and more.

Perhaps you’ve already taught your students the core and advanced techniques, but they’re looking to continue their growth as sewists. Maybe they simply want to add some custom outerwear to their wardrobe? Whatever the motivation, this course is perfect to equip you and your students with the skills to reach their goals.

In addition to the required projects, you can also teach ten other Burda Style coat patterns embodying the core outerwear techniques, which will be added to your teachable sewing pattern library. Even if you don’t want to teach, knowing how to make your own coats is a rewarding sewing milestone that can actually save you money in the long run and help you cater to your personal outerwear needs.

Just like in the first two certification courses, you must construct and submit two required projects in order to pass. In this outerwear course, three projects are shown and demonstrated, but you are only required to choose two to submit; plus size patterns are included and are perfectly acceptable for submission.

Once completed, you’ll receive an additional certificate affirming your Burda Style outerwear sewing skills, as well as a special note within your online directory profile informing students that they can learn coat construction techniques from you.
