The Expert:
Kate Zaynard is the managing editor of Sew News and Creative Machine Embroidery, as well as a host of the Sew & Tell podcast. She started sewing in college while studying costume design, then spent several years working as a theatrical dresser and stitcher in her hometown. Kate took a break from sewing to become an editor, but was delighted when her two professions collided, allowing her to write and edit stories about one of her favorite things to do. She loves having an excuse to sew for herself instead of for actors, and she takes a great deal of pleasure in sharing her knowledge and experience with other sewists as well as learning new tips and tricks from the experts she’s lucky enough to work with.
