Here at Sew Daily, we really love our Sew-Alongs. That’s why we’re super excited to be adding a new version to our collection. We’re calling this one a Stitch-Along. What’s the difference between a Sew-Along and a Stitch-Along? A Stitch-Along is associated with Creative Machine Embroidery, and it takes you through the process of stitching out an in-the-hoop project, step by step. So you will need access to an embroidery machine with a 5”x7” or larger hoop to make the project. We think you’ll love stitching along!

In-the-hoop projects can seem a little intimidating, since you’re doing all the construction in the hoop. But really, they’re among the most easy embroidery projects to do, since all the alignment and stitching is programed right into the design for you. And they come with instructions that tell you exactly what to do. But if you’re more of a visual learner, the Stitch-Along is perfect for you. I’ll show you exactly what to do for every single step.

The project we’re making for the Fall Stitch-Along is super cute. It’s a sweet mug rug large enough for your mug plus a little snack. It’s pieced, embroidered with a cute cup and quilted, and even has a classic binding that’s done completely in the hoop. It’s easy to coordinate to your taste through fabric and thread choice — match it to your home office to brighten up your space, or make one for each season and switch them out whenever the mood strikes you. They make great gifts, too.

The mug rug doesn’t take much fabric — the largest piece is 7”x11” — so it’s a great way to use up scraps you have laying around from former projects. And they’re quick to stitch, so it’s not a huge time commitment and easy to fit into a busy schedule.

The Stitch-Along is a great resource for anyone who’s interested in stitching the mug rug or even just learning how in-the-hoop projects work. Even if you don’t know anything about machine embroidery, this is a great way to get an idea of what’s involved.
