Creative Machine Embroidery Magazine New Issue Preview
I have a confession to make — the Nov/Dec issue is always my favorite. I love the fun gift ideas, cute décor and holiday finery that we always pack into the issue. The 2017 issue is hitting subscribers’ mailboxes now, and it will be on newsstands on Oct. 17. Keep reading for a sneak peek at what you’ll find in the issue!
On the cover, you’ll find a set of Christmas-themed tea towels. We love the nostalgic feel of tea towels in general and the vintage-style embroidery designs we added to the towels. It was tough deciding which designs to use on these samples — the whole collection is so cute! Find it at shopsewitall.com.
We borrowed a coworker’s adorable daughter to model the embroidered baby featuring our exclusive Cross Stitch Christmas Collection. Designed to be embroidered in a single color, these designs stitch up quick and add a homemade touch to any project. The collection includes two borders with a fair-island flair. You can see one of them on the baby-dress yoke. Grab a free snowflake design at cmemag.com.
Our In-the-Hoop design for this issue is a cute mini-stocking that holds a gift card and can be personalized. Hang it on the tree or attach it to a gift for a unique homemade tag.
Looking for the perfect gift? These wool totes are gorgeous. Made from high-quality fabric and embellished with pretty ombre stitching, anyone would be delighted to receive this from an embroidery-minded friend, relative or coworker.
My favorite thing about the pillow wrap project is that it’s a space saver. Because the embroidered section is separate from the pillow, you can pack it away in January and leave the pillow out, either unadorned or (better!) wrapped with a similar sleeve embroidered for the current season. Find the free design featuring your initial at cmemag.com.
Still into velvet? We are! That’s why we did an article all about embroidering on this special fabric. Check out the garment that goes with it! It’s amazing! We were all in awe when this arrived from the expert embroidered who made it, Katrina Walker. With the information contained in the article, you’ll be able to make it too!
I’m not a quilter myself, but I’m fascinated by our Quilt This article this issue. It’s about taking three motifs and using them to create unique but coordinating quilt blocks. I’m kind of tempted to try it out… and if I’m tempted, I’m sure this story will be extra interesting for all the quilter-embroiderers out there.
And that’s only about half of what’s in this issue! Find it on newsstands or at shopsewitall.com for even more great projects, including a snowflake-studded skirt, more in-the-hoop ornaments and décor, a quick reverse-appliqué method of dressing up a store-bought dress and a set of adorable space-themed children’s pajamas.
Happy Holiday Issue!
