Many embroiders and sewers have had the experience of purchasing a beautiful fabric only to get it home and run into trouble. Tissue lame is a delicate fabric.  Lightweight in nature, tissue lame is made of several flat metallic yarns in both directions. The fabric is loose but still quite stiff. Be sure to change your needles when embroidering on lame fabric frequently so that you can avoid fraying or snagging.

 

Knit fabrics are affordable, lightweight and come in a large variety of colors and blends. They are easy to wear, comfortable and can be worn through each season. Interlock knit fabric is best when pre-washed as it allows the fabric a bit of time to shrink (even 50/50 poly-cotton blends will shrink).
