Slopers are the perfect starting point for designing and making your own sewing patterns and garments! Slopers are the basic template for the pattern-making process, and they are used to establish the fit of the body. So when you have a perfectly fitting sloper to your body, you’ll have a perfectly fitting garment! The best way to develop your own set of slopers is to actually take multiple measurements from your body and draft them suited to you using two-dimensional paper and the addition of carefully calculated and placed lines. These lines will create the outer shape and darts that will make your sloper fitted exactly to you.
Through this course we’ll guide you through the entire detailed process of developing a sloper library consisting of a bodice and sleeve, skirt, pants, and dress sloper. Then to top it all off in the end you’ll see how to preserve these slopers so you can use them again and again. You will also see how to draft and sew a combined neckline/armhole facing to finish off your bodice and draft a waistband to keep your pant and skirt slopers in place if you want to sew them up in a funky fabric! This course will show every single drafting step to help you along the way, and to aid your drafting process you can print off multiple handouts to have with you at the drawing table.
So come join us through this extensive process and learn firsthand how to develop and draft your own personal sloper library. With these slopers in your sewing studio you’ll be more than well equipped for when you have a design idea and want to execute it quickly and efficiently!
