Creative Machine Embroidery Cafe Mug Rug FREE Stitch-Along | 9.1.20 – 11.1.20

Creative Machine Embroidery Cafe Mug Rug FREE Stitch-Along | SWEEPSTAKES CLOSED

FREE Stitch-Along is closed.

Stitch a charming embroidered mug rug entirely in the hoop. Kate Zaynard, the managing editor of Creative Machine Embroidery magazine and host of the Sew & Tell podcast, will show you how.

The Cafe Mug Rug design features a pretty little cup design, diagonal piecing and a neat in-the-hoop binding. Place a layer of batting or fleece under the main fabric for a classic quilted look. Choose fabrics to make rugs perfect for each season of the year.

Follow along with Kate as she stitches the Mug Rug from start to finish. We’ll start by discussing the various fabrics and materials that you need to make the project, then we’ll start stitching. Simple piecing in the hoop creates the striking diagonal line. Then embroider the cup and quilting lines, add the binding, then stitch the back. Finally, Kate will show you the final steps after removing the project from the hoop to complete your Cafe Mug Rug.

PLUS! When you register for this sew-along today, you will be entered to win amazing prizes from our sponsor! See our sweepstakes rules for entry for more information on eligibility.

The Expert:

Kate Zaynard is the managing editor of Sew News and Creative Machine Embroidery, as well as a host of the Sew & Tell podcast. She started sewing in college while studying costume design, then spent several years working as a theatrical dresser and stitcher in her hometown. Kate took a break from sewing to become an editor, but was delighted when her two professions collided, allowing her to write and edit stories about one of her favorite things to do. She loves having an excuse to sew for herself instead of for actors, and she takes a great deal of pleasure in sharing her knowledge and experience with other sewists as well as learning new tips and tricks from the experts she’s lucky enough to work with.
