My life, I realize suddenly, is July. Childhood is June, and old age is August, but here it is, July, and my life, this year, is July inside of July.
— Rick Bass

As we enter the sultry days of summer we have pleasant ways for you to cool off. Pour yourself a tall glass of lemonade, plug in the lap top and cool your heels with one of these amazing online classes.

If you want to learn more about your serger, or if you are thinking of purchasing one we've got a fabulous course, Serger 101 that will get you started on using your serger. I had a serger but I broke it and I miss it dearly. Although a serger is not required to be an excellent seamstress or sewist it sure is wonderful to have.

One thing on my bucket list is to design my own fabric. Nothing fancy, I just have so many ideas that I think would make awesome prints that I would love to try and get it all down on fabric. This class is right up my alley and yours if you desire the same thing, Fabric Design with Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop is taught by Lauren Dahl, owner of Pattern Workshop, an online school for those who want to start businesses creating their own PDF sewing patterns.

I drafted a couple of knit garments from ready-to-wear garments that turned out surprisingly well, since I had zero instruction. Next, I would like to learn to draft and design knits from my own measurements. I love sewing with knits and I think the logical step for me is to learn to draft my own knit wear. There's a lot involved but again if you want to take your sewing to the next level, drafting is it. Check out more if you are interested.

I posted a blog post on making your own wedding dress and wrote of my own experience with it. Designing and sewing your own can be a huge money saver or a complete disaster. Don't go it alone if you want to make your own wedding dress, we have a great class that will walk you through it.

Plus, we have plus size pattern grading class too, so if you don't like what you see from the pattern companies now is the time to learn how to do it yourself.  And you can read my amazing blog post on the new plus-size fashion (hey, I am shameless in self promotion!)

We have a lot more coming down for August, please stay tuned to this space for more details!
