Happy April Fool's Day! See What I'm Sewing + Take 50% off – No Joke!
Sorry, gang I don't have any clever April Fools jokes in my newsletter arsenal so I'm just going to talk about pants.
It is getting to be that time of year, the time for spring and summer garments. Have you ever worn jeans in the summer time and it feels like you're wearing Saran Wrap on your legs? It's completely uncomfortable.
My quest for this year is to make easy to sew pants with very little tailoring. And, here you can see I am working on a pair of silk pants I had mentioned on a Facebook status update a while back.
To test my pattern I initially made them in a cotton voile from Amy Butler and just made them into shorts since that was all the fabric yardage I had. I adjusted the crotch depth to my measurements and on this silk pair I widened the pant leg by 1 inch so I would be sure to get that chic and elegant swish that I so love.
instead of 1 14". I also made the front of the elastic flat and had all the gathering in the back.
I still need to hand stitch the opening on the waist band as well as hem the pants. I may interface the hem a bit too for a bit of structure as well. I will post a pic of myself wearing these as soon. We've got snow on the forecast for the rest of the week (Boo!) so my silk pant wearing days will be put on hold.
