Take a Break from Complicated Sewing with Easy Home Dec Projects

When I'm in the midst of a difficult project sometimes I like to take a break and make something easy and fast. Even though I've been sewing for a few years I still marvel at how much I love making something simple and quick. It's very satisfying to just take a break from the hard stuff. It really does energize me.  I think it's as close to instant gratification that a seamstress can get.

In the latest Stitch Spring 2015 there are many home dec projects as seen below. They are easy, won't break the bank for buying new and fancy fabric and can be completed in a few hours, if that!

  1. Posted that on the wrong “top feed” article! However, I understand this feeling as well. Sometimes when I have a few hard projects I can’t bring myself to finish, the best inspiration to revive my confidence is a quick project. A makeshift blanket for a child’s toy, a seam repair, a hemmed pant. Something to remind yourself why you do what you do!

  2. I love home dec projects. It’s almost instant gratification, especially when I am stuck on a larger project. I also like to make little things for friends such as potholders, small cosmetic cases or duffles, coasters, etc. I only wish I could get a little ahead on the gift things so I’m not rushing at the last minute…so much sewing and so little time!
