I started sewing when I was in college studying theatrical costuming. Later I found myself employed in a costume shop, where I enjoyed working with historical patterns and turning a design into reality. Though my sewing was sporadic for several years after I left the theater for editorial work, I have always cherished the sense of accomplishment I get when I take fabric and turn into something I can wear or use. And now, being the Creative Editor for Sew News, Creative Machine Embroidery and Sew It All allows me to combine my editorial career with a love of sewing – what could be better? As a bonus, after all those years of sewing costumes for other people, I’m finally getting to sew and embroider everyday garments and bags for myself.
