Do you use sewing e-patterns or prefer traditional?

BurdaStyle Magazine

To say I love sewing patterns would be the biggest understatement of the century. I buy new sewing patterns, indie sewing patterns, vintage, used and e-patterns. I do actually sew with them, just not in any timely manner. If I were to stop buying patterns I could sew something different for years to come. Yes, it's that bad.

I got into e-patterns first through BurdaStyle. Burda was one of the early adopters of sewing e-Patterns. If you aren't familiar with BurdaStyle the German version was first to hit the scene and now there are multiple editions popping up all over Europe. The US now has BurdaStyle specially created for US sewing and fashion lovers. With inspiring fashion editorials it also comes with full size patterns you can copy the look right from the magazine and the runway itself.

The plus-size market is one that is often overlooked. However, BurdaStyle, hands down has the best full-size fashions around. The plus-size fashions are modern, fresh, with curve conscious selections plus sexy casual dress options. I highly recommend it.

All said and done BurdaStyle US version or any version is a convenient way to get the latest styles and fashion right at your printer.

Keep to those New Year resolutions and order a subscription today and receive a year of modern, fresh fashions that you can sew yourself.

Tell me what you like about BurdaStyle magazine (any version!) I'd love to hear what you think!

  1. so far epatterns, and burdastyle, are lousy.

I am trying to make jacket 116 from the winter 2015 magazine. It says the pattern can be found at . Nope – good luck with that. I can’t find 116 anywhere on the burda site. Then I saw jacket 117. Very close, so I’m trying to use that (pattern included in the magazine). But it is not quite the same. I figured out that I would need to cut 2 front facings (not included in the directions), as the instructions to “Fold front self-facings to inside …” were wrong – the front piece didn’t include facings. I’m not sure (yet) what else is wrong – but Burda needs to do a better job. Better instructions, fix their errors, make their site more searchable. And if they want to use 1 pattern set for 2 different jackets, make the differences clear!
