Embellishments Made Easy
I love the look of embellished fashions on the runway. The skirt on the left is from Michael Kors 2015 collection. Wouldn't that be absolutely lovely to wear. It would feel like you're walking in a field of daffodils. Now, have I ever made something like this in my life? No.
But, I do know people who have! Added embellishments can be time consuming for any sewing project. But, the end results are so worth it. Embellishments on garments and accessories is a trend that really doesn't go out of style. It's pretty and can really change the look and feel of a garment. I would love to get a closer look at the skirt above. My guess is that it is made on a chiffon or tulle, with each flower hand sewn on. So beautiful.
Of course high fashion embellishment is way beyond my skill set. But, there are plenty of resources for beginners to learn how to embellish their projects with style and flair. I also like this e-book on embellishments. It's divided into three sections and covers embellishing with print, dye, embroidery and embossing. It's a great addition to your embellishment how-to library.
Another trend that I'm really liking is the embellished and embroidered jeans and accessories. Here's an example from Nicole Miller and her embroidered jeans.
This look can be done in a subtle way with minimal designs on key placement areas. What about you? Are you into the embellished look? What are your inspirations? Let me know on the blog!
