Pattern clarification: color-wheel tree skirt

I am currently working on the color-wheel tree skirt from the winter 2011 issue of Stitch. The pattern specifies the length of binding and total fabric needed, but not the width of strips needed. Please let me know the width I need to cut my bias strips. Thanks.
