I have been sewing for 48 years.  When we got married I had just graduated from nurses training.  I always said, I did not become a nurse to make money.  When I graduated from a 3 year hospital sponsored school of nursing and found myself making 10cents an hour less than three years before working in a factory cafeteria. Sewing became a necessary tool for new clothes.  Especially for work.  We have 2 daughters who I made many outfits for over the years (of course always matching outfits for CHRISTMAS UNTIL THEY REBELLED.  Halloween costumes continued from my daughters to my grandsons who are now 9 and 13 and they still provide many challenges of what they want each year.  Since they were born. I have also enjoyed knitting.  "Nana's binkies" have been carried forever and repaired multiple times, until mommies put them away.  Now it is throws big enough to wrap in to watch TV or put on their beds.  I have made many simple quilts, bibs and burp clothes  for friends babies and grandchildren.  I am trying to get more into crafting at the persuasion of a friend and sell articles made from jeans ( purses of all sizes, fanny packs, wall art, quilts, etc.  The Jeans are cheap enough to find, but purse supplies are more of a challenge to find low cost so I cam actually make a profit.  I love to read what others are doing and this site looks like it will keep me occupied.

Janet--Looks like sewing and knitting have been important parts of your life story. My sister, who is a nurse, made matching Christmas jammies for my two daughters one year--and they loved them! (They were also little sprouts at the time...)

Stick around the Sew Daily site. I'm sure you'll be inspired in many ways.

Welcome!

Rose
