Find Sewing Inspiration at Museums Around the Globe

May 10, 2011

Every time my mother comes to visit me, she always asks what exhibits are going on in the city so that she can see a part of sewing and fashion history herself. I then have to go on a quest to find information about museums across the NYC area, combing the information for something I think Mom will like best.

However, FIT has recently compiled a list of exhibitions across the globe that is available on their website that will definitely keep me in the fashion-history loop for the next few months. The topics include designers from the past and the present, and are on display in cities like Denver, Boston, LA, Montreal, Paris, and more. If you too are a fashion history buff, I recommend taking a look at this list to see if there is something happening in your area. I always find great inspiration at these exhibits for my own sewing, whether it's new ideas for color combinations, silhouettes, or even simply reviving my creative spirit through looking at others' works.

Is there anything on the FIT site that's on your to-do list? Or, is there a museum in your local area that you'd like to share? If so, please pass the word on in the comments below.
