I have to take a break from all the how-to posts to let you know how much I love the Stitch Summer 2012 issue, from the cover to everything that's inside.
Granted, I am a little biased, but I think you'll agree once you get a gander at what's inside.
First, who doesn't love having a sweet summer tote? Well, we have NINE of them in this lovin'-the-outdoors issue starting with the absolutely adorable Flower Power Reversible Purse by April Moffatt that's featured on the cover.
Once you start flipping through Stitch Summer 2012 pages, you'll see that the projects are organized into four sunny, summery categories:
- Fabulous Florals
- Gardening Glories
- Fresh Linen
- Beach Parties
Each section has items that will definitely have you wishing summer was already here. The good news is that if you start now, you may just get them all made by the time summer rolls around! I love all the projects and you will too, from the easy Button Bling Rings by Carolyn Friedlander and Snappy Wallet by Missy Shepler to the Good Day Sunshine Throw Pillow by Amy Struckmeyer and Roll Up Seed Saver by Briana Balsam.
In the features section is a fascinating Artist Profile about Hawaiian designer Alfred Shaheen, creator of the tropical bombshell dresses that are enjoying a resurgence in popularity. Contributing editor Gretchen Hirsch did a marvelous job of working with Shaheen's daughter to gather the gorgeous images and detail the story of Shaheen's life and work. I expect you'll be as inspired by his mouthwatering textiles and designs and illustrious career as I was.
You'll also find some excellent tips in the Technique Spotlight on sewing summer fabrics by Linda Griepentrog. Linda's knowledge is both impressive and expansive. I definitely picked up a few new pointers. Plus, we have a darling excerpt from the fashion-forward sewing book I Am Cute Dresses featuring how to make the I Am Hello Halter.
What more could you need to get your summer kicked off right: a pretty tote, great sewing inspiration and technique, a hot dress and so much more.
That's just a taste of what's in the Stitch Summer 2012. You can get your copy in the Sew Daily Shop. Enjoy basking in the sunny projects and let us know what you like best about the issue on the Sew Daily blog!
