I cherish these pieces of family history that show us a snapshot of times gone by. Keep that in mind as you create today what will likely be admired tomorrow.

I have to design and make an apron similar to one that may have been in use 50 yrs + ago for a CWA craft competition.

My grandmother would recycle a hessian potato sack for the back and flour bags for the front and a peg pocket. Trimmed with scraps of old dresses etc., they were quite attractive and very serviceable. I shouldn't have any problem locating a potato sack but calico flour bags have long gone - replaced by paper bags.

Guess I will have to start digging in my "old clothes treasure chest" for calico and trims. Should be fun!

I posted the photo on my blog karenquilt at blogspot.com today and shared how i tried to figure out what might have insired the dress design. It's probably a long stretch of my imagination, since I know much about quilt hsitory than about the history of dress design. Keep up the good work!
