Summer pants are a wardrobe staple. Ditch the skinny jeans and swap them out for comfort and style of a summer pant.
Some of my favorite looks this season include swishy, summery pants – from wide legs to oversized pockets to ruffles – in fun, sunny prints. Summer pants are a great wardrobe basic: they’re easy to dress up or wear more casually, for everyday. Plus, all the elastic waistband possibilities! Here are a few of our top picks for summer pants sewing patterns.
Summer Pant Sewing Patterns!
The Named Clothing Ninni Culottes are a summer fave around here. With an easy-fit elastic waist and roomy oversized legs, these culottes are drafted for knits but sew up equally well in a variety of lightweight wovens, from rayon crepe to tencel twill and more. Read a full review here!

Emerson Crop Pants
We’re pretty partial to True Bias’s Emerson Crop Pants – see our latest sew along on the Sew News blog for more info! These pants feature front pleats, roomy pockets, a nice wide leg and an ingenious waistband – flat on the front, elastic in the back. A total must-sew! The pattern includes shorts, for a cute sporty option. Read a full review here!
For a more streamlined silhouette, we’re loving the Arenite Pants by Sew Liberated. With super roomy pockets and flattering seaming, these pants offer a tapered leg (with options!) but still retain that lovely summer swish, especially when sewn up in silk noil (new favorite!) or breezy rayon.
For something a little different, sew up a pair of linen coveralls with the Sew House 7 Burnside Bibs. These work in a variety of fabrics for summer, offering coverage and unique styling that’s still warm-weather friendly.
BurdaStyle Drawstring Wide Leg Pants
Leave it to BurdaStyle to add a ruffle to a wide leg pant! Sewn up in knits, these drawstring pants are a great comfy summer option with a little something extra, perfect for yoga class or a concert in the park. Plus, tassels!
