How did it get so late so soon? Its night before its afternoon. December is here before its June. My goodness how the time has flewn. How did it get so late so soon?

I am finally getting round to sewing up my pillows for my living room. Remember awhile back I had said I was making some soft furnishings for my living room? Well, I have picked out the fabric and the binding is ready, and pillow forms have been purchased. Now, all I need to do is get some time aside and get the darn things made.

I think that is the biggest obstacle to sewing; time to do it. There is just so much I want to sew, but time is in such short supply isn’t it? Here are a few things that I have always wanted to sew.

  • Fall coat. I have this on my fall sewing list and, even have a pattern picked out.
  • Sofa slipcovers and other easy types of upholstery. I love my couch but it could use a serious update with color and fabric.
  • Ball gown. Seriously, I want to sew a big beautiful gown of some sorts and then wear it out.
  • Cosplay/costume. Another ambitious project is sewing a costume of sorts. Maybe not a traditional cosplay/superhero costume but more like a re-enactment type costume.
  • Along those same lines, make a dress to wear to the 1940/50’s ball.

I need to put the metal to the pedal I guess and, just do it.

What things have been on your sewing list that you really really want to do? What’s stopping you? Any tips on getting started for those bigger projects?

Let me know on the blog!

  1. My bucket list
    – pants sloper
    – fancy dress for those special occasions

    My problem
    – kids keep growing so I have to keep sewing for them
    – all those kids birthday party gifts, which means pillow slips, bags, shorts
    – school play costumes
    – husband wants some time

  2. I decided to make my mother-of-the-bride dress for my daughter’s wedding. I’ve had many and varied sewing projects, but this was the first real couture project. I can’t seem to post a picture of it, but it turned out beautifully.

  3. My sewing bucket list:

1950s style party dress (I have some yellow polka-dotted fabric that’s perfect for this)
cosplay costume (I have some patterns I recently bought to make various costumes)

    My problems list:

growing and very active baby = no time
small sewing room/table = no space

and the biggest one, to me => still a beginner sewist… they’re rather ambitious projects to me, and kind of intimidating… how do I even start?
