Does your sewing taper off during the holidays? Or maybe you ramp up your sewing production by making handmade gifts for friends and family? Last week at my sewing support group we met to stitch up fun projects to give as gifts.
At least that was the plan. What we ended up doing was chatting about Game of Thrones, body issues, spouses and upcoming fabric sales. I did manage to cut out a scissor holder. I’m making one for my mom. Pam got her project fabric under her presser foot, but that’s as close has she came to sewing. Yea, Pam!
I’m planning on getting more finished up this weekend, but I still need to finish that purple cape. Here are a few things that I thought would be really fun to give as gifts and be quick to make. Right after I finish that cape!
I love this vintage inspired pillow. I think it would be easy to sew and with the right vintage style fabrics perfect as a gift. I know someone who is very fond of bunnies.
This shrug is to die for, but I would probably minimize the bold buttons or eliminate them altogether. I have a petite sister who I think would look great in something like this.
I love metal framed purses! I made one recently and I use it all the time. I would use a home dec fabric in a fall or winter palette and a chain for wearing on the shoulder.
Easy sew bags and totes stitch up super fast. I like this one for all the details such as appliqué, velvet ribbon, hand embroidery and the adorable fabric. To save time I’m going to machine embroider the label. Makes it even quicker!
What are your plans for the holidays? Does your sewing rev up, or maybe you take a nice break and just sew for you? Let me know on the Sew Daily blog.
