Designer and author Ayumi Takahashi has created some wonderful and whimsical projects for Stitch magazine and now she has a new book full of them: Patchwork, Please! Colorful Zakka Projects to Stitch and Give!
There is something just so delightful about zakka, which is all about elevating the ordinary items of everyday life into something beautiful. In Ayumi's book, she takes you through exactly how to create zakka sewing projects, beginning with basic tools and materials and techniques like combining fabrics, paper-piecing, raw-edged appliqué, to name a few.
From there, you get into the good stuff, items you can create for your kitchen (Polka Dot Café Apron and Bell Pepper Coasters!), home (Swedish Bloom-Time Lap Quilt), shopping excursions, children, and more-19 projects in all. Templates are included as well as a list of resource, giving everything you need to make these happy and distinctive pieces.
Ayumi lives in Japan and she is known for her quirky projects. She can walk the zakka walk, if you know what I mean!
